I need to switch over too....I think I will call tonight and see what they will do. I'm on Extreme plus ATM w/ free modem @ 50%off. I prefer more bandwidth than speed tho.

I had 30% discount on my cable, but it expired in January. I called today to get my discount back (just noticed the bill), and they wouldn't, so I cancelled it.
Have to wait for the winback call, Rogers retentions is useless now. Oh and Vas, don't use stream netflix HD, what about torrents? What about working from home. Its not 2000 anymore dude, there is a need for highspeed internet access.
Again with the winback? If they let me go there is no winning me back this time. I caved last yr during a winback call but not this yr. If I don't get something more stable in terms of price long term this yr I'm gone. 50% or not I'd rather go to tecksavvy and be done with rogers internet once and for all.

You're still dealing with rogers when you have teksavvy
Bingo!
I still haven't had one person show me a "good deal" without Rogers. Teksavvy is over rated.
What do you do during the down time? Do you say you are canceling in a couple of months and hope they call back before then? Or cancel it and have no internet/TV for a while until they call back?
You cancel & still have service. You have 30 days to return the box before they actually cancel your service.
Pretty much after you call & cancel with Rogers, you wait 2 hours and call winback themselves. They give you good deal & your good. No downtime.
I usually wait 30 mins to be honest & just tell them my friend just got this deal & this is the process he went through, so I want it to. Has never failed me.

Anyone get the new Rogers Hitron CGN3 router/modem? I got it last night, I've had to reboot it probably 4 times already.. And this is when it's in gateway mode (ie not doing anything!).. Fucking god damn piece of shit. Didn't have this problem with the old Cisco DPC3825 gateway I just returned.

this is another thing I'm worried about. there are so many simple, great, modems that can be had for $100 or so. All it does is modem stuff...lol. Then I can get any router I want from $3 to $300. These modem routers, especially the rogers ones, blow big time. The majority of them do anyway. I have a cisco 3825 as well and it has been pretty stable. But all others I read about are just junk.....just like their pvr's. But rogers doesn't allow them, even tho third party resellers of a rogers service allows them no problem.

Do I even have an option of using my own modem with Rogers? If so, I've got one upstairs (Motorola SB6141)
:EDIT: I guess not.. For fuck sakes. If this keeps up it's going back and I'll downgrade my service.

i've got the Hitron CGN2-ROG
i had to disable the wifi and now it's stable. you might need to do the same.
It's in gateway mode, so everything is turned off, wifi, dhcp, firewall, everything.
