There's a funny artifact there. Looks like a gradient used to darken the sky to me but it could be on the OG exposure. Regardless of where it came from, I would try to smooth it out.

Nate

on second thought i think i know what you might be seeing. i put a UV filter on the 17-40 to weather seal it for Antelope canyon and it fucked the sun flare capabilities of the lens. i had to do a lot of cloning of sun flare in that area, so maybe you picked that up

Mmmmmm nope, it's from the ND filter for sure. I can literally see the gradation on the rocks, because it's brighter down low in the frame where it "should" be darker based on the way the light actually existed at the scene.

It looks nice, don't get me wrong. All I would do is darken the bottom slightly so it has a better balance with the top of the frame.

Since I sold my Sony 75-300 el cheapo lens to Amazon for 140 dollars. I was drooling over a new Sony one that came out last year. Still a "cheap" one I guess, but at 300 dollars, it is only 50 dollars more than the 75-300 and has a better range at 55-300mm. It is a larger overall lens and has much more up to date lens coatings.

This isn't much, but it is one of my first pictures with it.

One of 4 of these living under my shed. I've caught and relocated 3 so far.

Nice catch! Are the Groundhogs undermining the foundation of your shed?

My brother was having a problem with a Chipmunk. Unknown to my brother, the little Chipmunk tunnelled under his asphalt driveway, all the way across it. He discovered this when he was pulling the car into his garage and the front of the car SANK into the tunnel! lol It was only a few inches of depth but still enough to be a major headache and definitely noticeable from inside the car.

Not sure of the damage done. They were living under my florida room, but now theyre under the shed since I closed off their access. The shed is on 4x4 posts laid flat, and they seem to be just in between the posts, but I'll know for sure once i catch this last one and can get under there safely.

If that bat dies, I'd contact animal control. They try to keep track of animals, especially bats that have rabies.

Not sure what happened to them...I set them free into a tree the other night, away from my house. I think they're all totally gone...haven't seen anymore for a couple days now.

Shot this for project 52, a double page environmental portrait, leaving room for the gutter and bleed around the edges. edit, and a dark, simple area for text to go on, hence the lack of ambient on the ground and losing the tools. Used a 2'x2' box with a speedlight at 1/128. shot the 50 1.8 at 2.2 or 2.8 or something, 1/250", iso 100. low ambient. his shop door matched the direction of the speedlight, but then there's less control of the ambient, so i went this route.

Yeah, I didn't want to say anything. But was wondering why no tripod? I'd take a remote intervalometer next time too. Even with a nice tripod, you can still get shake just by pressing the shutter button. At least, this is what I have noticed with my heavy Manfrotto tripod.

Needs bigger DoF in my opinion. I'd really like to see those slices 100% in the focal plane. Lighting seems good to me, just work on the DoF.

Don't get me wrong, the parts that are in the DoF are excellently sharp, but when I look at food pictures, a small DoF kind of kills it if the edges of the food fall out of it. If you were taking pictures of say cupcakes with one entirely in the focal plane the 135 would rock it at F2. I want watermelon now... thanks.
