Nice read, for me riding the hills is more mental than anything. If I've done a bigger hill a few times then I know how much energy/power I can put towards an approaching hill without burning out half way through. Have to pace yourself.

I agree that standing is a sign of a lack of power (that's actually why I stand all the time). But to say it doesn't work is whacko!
So many great climbers climb mainly standing...and they are not "lacking power" \:\)

I agree, and depending on the rider, it may be more efficient for them. its not so black and white imo and will be rider specific.(especially depending on how they trained)

Hopefully by September - these weekends are killing me.

The ride is ~30km and 55 mins

That's just a single segment that I posted.

I am posting this same route as it's the same route I started out on ;\)

I will attest to Vas being strong.
The dude keeps working on it and it shows.
He really hammered the last ride, despite carrying an extra 10lbs of feces that he was vigilantly holding in.

Good ride guys. Props to henry to finding a slightly more challenging route this time around. Real enjoyed it and Shane totally ripped it up on running shoes! He even climbs in like 53x16!!!

Good ride for sure. The longest ride I've been on too. My shoes look so ghetto. The sole is peeling and the top is all stain with concrete sealer.

That's better than the green crocs that I wear on a daily basis. Wife refuses to leave the house with me when I wear them ;\)

a couple of us will be up at blue for a bike ride that weekend. otherwise, that certainly looks interesting.

Vas those green crocs are awesome! You picked the most eye catching colour possible. All you need now are some of those charms people put on their crocs to dazzle them up!

I went out for my first outdoor ride of the season as well, even with the wind it felt so good.
Today is exactly 4 months since I started riding indoors and could no longer take it. I went and spent $250 on cycling pants/jacket just so I could escape the indoor riding. Worth every cent.

Although I don't have a working road bike, I'm itching to do some trail riding. Spent some $$ on a Gore jacket, base layer, and Endura pants for those chilly days both spring and fall. Bring it bitches \:D

With this weather I doubt you are going to be riding trails any time soon, it's going to be a long time before shit dries up proper.
Nothing wrong with riding your mountain bike on the road, I do it all the time. It's a lot more flexible than a road bike, you can ride it on the road, hop on to gravel or woodchips, go climb hills, etc. No freedom with stupid skinny tires.
