Nice!
I just noticed that I passed 1000 miles for the year, 1018 to be exact.

1203.3 for me! I've been adding in a bunch of hill work the last week or so. Feel good, and hopefully it will help next month.

lol, I was having a couple weeks worth of those runs....so I'm pretty excited that I'm starting to feel quick again. Just signed up for another sprint tri (this one a reverse) for the 4th of November.

Gad. My knees were tender after last Monday's run. Soreness in the joints. It went away for the most part, but came back in full force 1/8 mile into today's run. They still hurt a decent amount now.

It definitely feels like it's in the joint (as opposed to behind the cap). The whole time, I was trying to do a mid-foot strike (I'm still baffled by the toe strike).

Really bums me out, because the cardio end of it isn't an issue at all. The impact is fucking my world up. \:\(

Knees still aching from Monday's run. WTF?! \:\(

I want to run--especially since now I have the sprint tri thing in my head. I just don't get why it has to hurt.

Thats just the way it goes. Unless you're rail thin, most people suffer aches and pains when they take up running...the joints just arent used to the pounding. I'd suggest getting out there and powering through it. Im sure you'll know if it's something more serious than aches and pains, so listen to your body.

Yeah, I'm playing it by ear. This is a new type of pain, so it caught me off guard. I have a feeling it'll come back almost immediately next time I run. We'll see.

lol, just had to get my run in for the day to keep on track with my month long streak. Wife is out of town, so I loaded the baby in the jogger, tied the dogs leash on and put the older kids on their bikes. Made it through the 5 miles, but I'm sure we looked like a damn circus parade rolling through town.

Good news...streak intact (actually 28 runs in 27 days) and 47 miles for the week so far.

Kind of excited. While not really a sponsorship, the owner of a local tri shop that I love hooked me up with a huge discount on a new tri kit.

Sexy butt aside, that's pretty sweet.

I've gotten a few kits from doing the MS150--nice little fringe benefit for raising money. Decent stuff, too--VO2 Max.

What do tri shorts usually run? I have a feeling I'll need to snag some next year.

I need to upload all my event runs. Did a 7 mile trail run in Morro Canyon here in Orange County. Curious to see what the elevation was. There were a few killer climbs.

Ampsman should be happy with me that I've finally got out on the trail. Had a fantastic time. I ran here a couple years ago, but was nowhere near in the shape I am now. Time goes by at a completely different speed on the trail compared to the road.

Took the wifes handheld water bottle which worked great.

Oh, and I have these being delivered tomorrow:

3:17:57 in Savannah yesterday, nearly 30 minutes faster than last year. I credit it to faster training, more miles, and taking more water and calories during the race. Still kind of fell off pace but it was at mile 22. Around mile 24 I went into my shuffle. The cliche is really, really true - the marathon starts at mile 20.

Thanks man! I was going to stick to one marathon a year but maybe it's smarter to just keep doing a long run each weekend since I'm already trained up, then try for a BQ this spring in Myrtle Beach.

Had my own success today. Nabbed 1st place age group and 10th overall in a reverse sprint. Also hit one of my goals for the year, a sub 20:00 5k. The run course was almost a half mile long, but I hit 3.1 at 19:58.

Bike was pretty good...did the 12 miles is 32:00. It had a few hills that zapped some speed, but it was a solid ride.

Swim was 6 lengths of a 25m pool....kind of tough to hit the water already gassed, but it was over quick. \:D

Nice work! And I never knew there was a such thing as a reverse sprint. That's wild and seems look a good way to farking drown!!!

Way to sneak under 20 too. Do you think you could go even better in a 5k with nothing after, or did you blow it all out?

On a flatter course, for sure. I went pretty much all out, but it was a two loop course and there was a good 1/4 mile long hill that you hit twice, and that slowed me down some. Of course there were some downhills that kind of made up for it, but you can't get back that energy expended, you know?

I think if I actually started doing some speed work, I could get pretty close to 19 flat.

These last few weeks I've been throwing in a couple two a days in there...and I gotta say, I've never felt stronger, healthier or faster.

This morning I ran 6 with the baby and the dog, then this evening I did another 9 and it was like I hadn't ran in days...that's how fresh I felt. Starting to see how the 60-80 mpw the advance marathon plan call for are totally possible.

FFFUUUU that sounds tough. Starting out with the swim seems like a much easier effort.

While I like the idea of not having to swim in open water, how the hell did they keep track of laps in the pool and how was it not a clusterfuck of people?

Props for really starting to kick ass in this stuff. Pretty amazing.

They call it a serpentine swim. Swim one length, duck under the lane line to the next lane, swim back, move to the next lane etc. that's why they do it in reverse...the field is pretty thinned out by then. I only had to pass one guy.

Sweet. That makes a lot more sense.

FWIW, I ran 3.40 miles today, as I did on Monday. Both felt GREAT. I actually hustled on the last half-mile each day. I'm starting to enjoy running again--WTF?!

I see this as my outdoor cardio over the winter. The bike gets miserable below 45 degrees (even with cold weather gear), but I could see myself running if it's sunny and above freezing. We'll see. I just don't want to lose this level of cardio I have right now. I want to go into Spring strong for cycling.

Running in the cold is really nice, for me. For me as long as I keep my ears and hands warm I'm good to go, so I have a fleece headband/ear warmer thing and some nike running gloves.

Other than the extremities, colder is better for running as far as I'm concerned! But then again SC cold ain't the same thing as RI cold.

I expect you to have a cold beer waiting for me when I cross the line. \:D

I was shot down from my trail run this week because of the rain they closed the backcountry. Bummed, but hopefully I'll get a good one in on Tuesday, then taper a bit.

Word to that.

I don't see myself out there below freezing, but we'll see. Also will depend on how clear the sidewalks/shoulders are post-snowstorms. Fucking winters... \:\(

Huge PR this morning with a 19:22 \:\) Flattest possible course - a runway. Out, a wide U-turn on a taxiway, and back. Wifey PR'd with around a 24:00 too.
