Where everybody be?

Did an hour trainer ride yesterday, followed by a 7:48 pace 5 mile run. The legs were still pretty sore, but if felt great to get out there on the road.

This week was an hour on the trainer on Monday, spinning class with the wife on Tuesday, 40 minutes on the rollers and a 3 mile run on Wednesday, and taking today off.

Will do some intervals tomorrow on the trainer, easy outdoor ride on Saturday for an hour and a half or so, and first crit of the year on Sunday.

Had another brutal track workout, it's a love/hate thing with speed workouts.

The marathon is creeping closer, still second guessing my goal time.

Big 5k for me tomorrow morning. I was hoping for this to be the race where I broke the 20:00 mark (current PR is 20:17) but in the end I don't think it's going to happen. I just don't feel that hot lately. Secondary goal: come in 69th like I did 2 years ago \:D

3.5 miles today. Easy 8:40 pace with the dog.

Then 40 minutes on the rollers.

Injuries gone and regular training means I've shaved off the five pounds or so I picked up over the winter. Weight should drop into the 160s very soon (until I wreck that on vacation in a week ).

20:10. I left the Garmin at home - to be honest if I had known I was that close I would have pulled harder. I pulled up a little because I was really close to puking.

Let's get drunk! 85 degree st pat's in Columbia.

Just finished another 6 miler.. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/73943026

Want to move up to about 8 miles, but shins were hurting.. Can anyone suggest some good stretches for calves and whatever muscle is around your shin. Been feeling really tight when I run lately.

Dang...nice recovery man!

I had intended to do a long run yesterday, but we had torrential downpour the whole day and family visiting, so it was an easy decision to skip it. Hoping it will hold off a bit today to squeeze in a 6 miler before I get on the trainer.

Just got back from Virginia Beach a little bit ago. I ran the half in 1:41:01, 7:43 pace. I wanted to try to go below 1:40:00, but that will have to wait. Going to take a few days off and decide if I am going to train for another half or go for a full.

Nice work! If you end up going for the half, 4 seconds a mile will be no problem at all for you! Half training won't really be all that different than full training IMO so I think you can play it by ear. (I ran a 1:42 last year and something like 1:35 this year.)

Nice job man....you beat me by a little over a minute. I'll be shooting for sub 1:40 later this year as well.

4 mile run earlier today...pushing the stroller down a bikepath covered in sand from the storm we had over the weekend. Damn that was a workout!

Just got back from the pool where I did 2000 yards in 34:27. April is when I'll really start my swim training for Ironman.

Running fail today. In London for vacation and set out for a 7 mile run through some of the parks. Started around noon though so everyone and their brother was out. A couple of wrong turns, throngs of tourists at Buckhingham Palace, etc. meant our mix of running/walking/people watching was not a particularly good pace. Probably covered 7 miles total but only ran about 4 and a half. Good easy workout though.

Did a 40/10 brick today. 40 mile bike ride took me 2:02, then a 5 minute transition, then a 10 mile run in 1:22.

Currently freezing in an ice bath. lol

w00t... 5K = 5Cake...

Did the Angels 5k Fun Run this morning..
http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/ana/community/5k_funrun.jsp
Results..

Looks like I placed 220 out of a little under 3000 people who ran.. 26th in my Division.

2 mins of that time was escaping the horde at the beginning.

learned a valuable lesson today. Today was Accidental Experiments in Barefoot Running day!

Forgot my running shoes on lunch run day. Ran 2.x miles in puma speedcats driving shoes. Coulda gone farther, but took a page from the vibram thing where they said "don't go very far!" and cut it short. An hour later, i'm REALLY glad that's all i did. ouuuuuch.

In random 5k news, there's a 5k coming up here in WA i wound up registering for 'cause work decided the first 20 people who registered would get it expensed back to them. I'm pretty psyched. I'd have run it anyhow, but now I get to do it for free!

No better motivation than a race you've already signed up for. In my case it was a full year out. \:D

I had a good week last week. Ran 38 miles, rode 100 miles, and swam 2000 yards. This week will be decent (just did a 5 mile run followed by an hour on the trainer), but we fly to Maui on saturday, and along with relaxing, I plan on kicking some ass on the road and in the water. The plan is to start every day with an early 45 minute swim, followed by a 6 mile run. Then I plan on doing another run in the evening before dinner. I should have a great run week. \:D

Oh man, I tried to do that when i went to Maui... I really did. I just couldnt' bring myself to run each morning when i could just sit on the lanai! lol

...I can't think of a better place to go for a jog though. Envious.

Normally I'd be doing the same as you did....but I have 140.6 miles hanging over my head, and there's no way I'm going to miss out on some prime training time (without having to worry about a schedule, kids, etc). \:D

There's another 5K this weekend here.. debating on whether I should do it. 40 bucks seems like a lot of money to pay someone else so I can run 3 miles.. http://carlsbad.competitor.com/event-information/

I fucking hate running but looking to do distance running mon/wed/fri with just wind sprint pyramids on Tue/Thr. Since I haven't been doing regular PT for a few years, probably gonna start with 1 mile for the distance running, increase it another mile every 2 or 3 months until I get to 5.

That's what I did starting about 4-5 months ago.. You could probably start at 2 miles actually, then work up from there. In December I was running like a 9:30 min/mile pace and felt like death at the end of 2-3 miles.

I blew through that 5K this last weekend like I was doing a PFT 10 years ago \:\) .. Ive always been a poor runner too. I fucking hate running. I was at foot locker and they had a shirt that said, "Running sucks" on it. I wanna get that shirt lol.

The longest distances Ive been running on my own now are about 6 miles. Think Im gonna move up to 8 miles now. I want to eventually do a half-marathon.
