I know some people think anyone who buys extended warranty for anything is a sucker, but given the short lifespan of TVs these days I went for it. For what it costs, its worth it. TVs come with a 2 year warranty. I paid $60 got an additional 3 years for a total of 5. After 4 years I was having some issues with my Sony TV, nothing major but I figured I'd get it fixed before it got worse. Turns out they can't get the part and I get my full money back.
On a side note, I contacted the technician from the insurance company that came to inspect and take my TV to get fixed. Once I was informed they weren't going to fix it, I asked him if I can get it back. I figured it was still in his possession and I could live with the issue. He claimed that they have to salvage (disassemble?) the TVs. But low and behold he has the exact same tv without any issues that he would be willing to sell me for $200

This sounds like something that happens in Brampton.
Good win on the warranty tho.
On the topic of Costco returns, I don't think I could ever buy anything from Costco that could result in a potential return, the line ups for return desk are always insane (at least my local one).
Anyone also run into the issue that it's very common for them to sell meat/produce that expires the same day as purchase, I thought it was a one off, but have noticed it's almost every time I am there i am buying stuff that expires the same day (no sale either).

Costco is the best. I've heard of cheap fucks buying ps4s and returning them after using them for a year. I bought a 720 plasma 43 inch Samsung for 330 and got extended warranty for 30 bux. I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th year now. I should break it and get a new one lol

True. I do have some light image burn in my screen. I wonder I can do anything about it.

What kind of insurance did you have on TV? How do you insure a TV?
OP said he bought a TV from costco, so this is the extended warranty program costco offers.

Yes there are tons of cheap fucks that are abusing the system and ruining it for everyone else. Truth be told, I didn't think my issue was that big (ghosting) and just wanted it fixed before it got worse and the warranty ran out. I was surprised when they gave me a refund. Mind you I question the technician. Seems as though he's got a side gig going on where he classifies the tv as not repairable and resells it. Luckily I didn't have to go into the store, it was all done over the phone, When you said you got a refund, did Costco refund the cost of the extended warranty ($60) or the original cost of the TV?
srsly?

the commercial tvs we use for work have an automatic 2-year warranty and if anything happens we just call in and let them know. they ship us new one and they say 'discard' the bad one lmao. too easy.
Wow!
