Skimmed it, there really isn't much benefit to a front plate aside from some criminal shit, otherwise this is the strong point:
Increases safety in general Retro reflective material on front of car increases visibility at all times Provides some type of reflection for drunk/inattentive drivers who neglect to turn on their headlights during dark hours [1]

How else are we going to see Civic drivers without their lights on?!?!?!??!?!?!?! This is a pressing public safety issue.

They add a huge cost to our insurance premiums believe it or not. The front plates and their mounting screws dig into rear bumper covers causing need to refinish and replace bumper covers/components that would otherwise be left with a couple of marks that could be buffed off after super minor bumps. I'd say I'd be a fan of getting rid of them but with cameras everywhere now, they probably do help with keeping the average person honest but any criminal that is going to be difficult to catch anyways won't use legit plates or a legit getaway car anyways.

wouldnt it save money as consumers only pay for one, manufacturing less, so pollution down, waste down, environmental benefits, grass growing, birds chirping, deer grazing, etc...

Aren't new plates like $10, so that's $5 a plate.
The manufacturing process of a plate is just stamped steel. I mean making less will obviously emit less emissions/etc, but not sure if it's material...compared to the weeks of bickering at the provincial government in wasted salaries debating this useless shit.
Like is a front plate the biggest thing that needs these fucks' attention?
Just get rid of it without debate/banter and we are good

I recently helped my mother in law buy a car and the dealership said whether she wanted to transfer her old plates or buy new ones, the price was the same, $34 if I recall correctly.
Yet on this site it says the price of the license plate is $59 https://www.ontario.ca/page/driver-and-vehicle-fees

Strange, I haven't bought plates in maybe 3 years, but i recall going to the MTO and it was either $10 or $20 for a new set of plates. Definitely not $60. Mind you I was replacing those peeling B plates, so maybe it was a special price?

Our plates have always used blue as the main color. Dunno what the issue is there.
The white lettering on dark background is kinda sweet, but a rollout would be super confusing, between dealer plates, diplomat plates, garage plates, commercial plates, etc.
