So I've been tossing around the idea of selling the TSX to have some extra scratch for a down payment on a new house. I've been searching for a cheap replacement dd and have been struggling to find one in decent shape, and stumbled on an 04 TL.
It has a few minor scrapes and scratches, but its solid mechanically. Only 108k mi on the clock & the timing belt & water pump were just replaced at 90k. For $5k, I can't complain (every other 3G TL in this price range was either 150k mi+, junk title, or both). The guy selling it just inherited it from his father who passed away. He added the wheels & A-spec kit, then promptly lost interest and bought a new GTI. No tears in the leather and no cracked dashboard (a common issue on 3g TLs). Clean carfax (thanks HondaF350 ) with all maintenance done at an Acura dealership. It has 07-08 Base TL wheels (which I didn't like at first, but are starting to grow on me) and the A-spec front & rear lips, which are icing on the cake.
Driving impressions: Although theres only around a 100lb difference between the 2 cars, the steering feels much quicker/immediate in the TSX due to the electric assist. The TL steering is not as immediate and there is a bit more body roll in the corners vs the TSX, but it continues to grip and hang on. Where the TL shines is relaxed 80mph cruising on the highway (regular highway speed here in AZ). In a straight line/hard launch situations its no contest, the old 270hp J32 in the TL leaves the 200hp K24Z3 saddled to 3500lbs of TSX the dust. I kind of miss the paddle shifters coming from the TSX, but with the extra tq of the V6 i don't really need them. It should serve me well for dd duties for the next year or 2 until I get the new house situation finalized & hopefully I'll be able to turn around and sell it for not much less than what I paid for it.
