Parents got a new car and asked me if I knew of any shops which rust proof similar to what you'd get at the dealership for a new car.
Any ideas? I know a few of you guys rave about krown and other annual rustproofing, but my folks just want to one time application (and not use the dealership for it).
one time means nothing in the long run. if they plan to keep the car awhile then you should be doing it at least every 2 years...maybe 3 but that's prob pushing it. ideally you should do yearly.
if a shop tells you "one time and it's good forever" they are bullshitting you. and DO NOT use the wax stuff as it traps moisture underneath and your car will rust. also DO NOT buy those shit rust inhibitor modules, they are garbage and don't do shit except drain your battery.
you can do it at the dlr but they rip you off bigtime for oil spray. just stick to krown or even rust check centre. there are a few independents that aren't bad either for the money. they main thing is where and how they spray. most cars you spray the usual spots but some cars must have small holes drilled to reach other key areas (they will install small rubber grommets to fill the hole, they are greased and sit flush with the metal). when u go back to re-do the spray they just pop them out and spray in the same spots.
