]Not bad for an advertised 210hp if it's pumping out 197 to the wheels!
Tell me about it. Only about 180-190 of my advertised 232hp are getting to the wheels.

An accent with the 2.0T would be a riot.

I'm not surprised. I expected it to be slower than those two cars. This is Hyundai's first attempt at a semi-serious sports car. They did well in my opinion. At least to me it looks the best out of the three.
Also, Hyundai has always been behind in the car game and this proves that they still are. They are catching up, but there is still work to do. Not saying the Genesis is a subpar product, because it is a great product for Hyundai. In the general automotive realm though, it is a mediocre product.

Um,Eric Hsu,IIRC is a guy that runs a shop that mods alot of stuff other than Mitsus,in fact I think they do a ton of Subie stuff. Im sure someone else knows this. I think they have a Genesis on order to build parts for it. Seems to me that there were alot of posts saying "a tune and bolt-ons=100whp like the Evo,cuz it's the same". Doesnt appear that way. As far as Mitsu pedigree? LOL Im not so concerned by that. DSMs danced with Neons in the past. Edit:XS engineering's site shows that they have a Skyline project cars, support Subaru WRX,and Evos. Eric Hsu being a jaded Evo fanboy? I dont think so. I thought it was an interesting writeup. Eric no longer owns or works at XS. He works for Cosworth now.

If you want straight line performance, I tell everybody the same thing.
The 2010 with the optional track pack pulls .92g and slaloms almost as fast as the Ford GT.

I just read a new article in Road and Track and they liked everything about the Mustang, but said it still drives extremeley nose heavy, jumps sideways over bumps while cornering (stick axle),and the steering is overly numb.
They liked everything else about it,and commented that the interior was nice (this is the third time in 3 mags Ive read this) and the liked the new Olephin dash material. I found that personally funny as the soft-touch dash in DSMs is called elephant skin by DSM fans (DanL) hehehe.
And ditto on the track pack, they highly recommended it.
I know when I drove the new Mustang I really liked how much better it was inside, and it still drove like the old Fox. Autoweek found that true also.
Oh,and how close was the slalom to the GT? Because a MPH advantage is signifigant.

I really don't think it is a "mediocre product" compared to the industry.
It comes in at a lower price than any RWD coupe by a good margin with the turbo4. I would think its really going to compete with alot of FWD compacts, as it replaced the tiburon (last year 08?) and is in the ballpark of GTI/Si/Mspeed and so on.
When you look at the v6 base @ 25,000 it also undercuts the Z by a pretty margin.
I mean first thing most consumers will do is drool over the shape and want it regardless if its slower than the z or mustang or not. And I also don't believe hyundai ever called the car a "Z or mustang beater" or anything like that. Its just a nice looking rwd coupe with a nice looking interior, great warranty and good price.

I'm with the SvA bandwagon on the fat critique. The Genesis needs a massive weight reduction. As a 4B11 Evo owner, I am excited about the 2.0T coupe, not against it. I want to see it thrive!
Progress, I'm against you on the Rustang. You should be shot for even being interested in one since you have a Vette (real sports car), unlike the Stang (shatbox). Yes, its better than last year with the track pack options, facelift and Bullitt underpinnings, but its still an overwrought land turd with a solid axle.

Hey, you are entitled to your opinion. But to me, you look at the v6 version, you have to compare it to the base 370z, GXp soltice and the Mustang GT, because those are its closest competitors. The 4 cylinder version should be compared to the Civic Si, the GTi and other sport compacts.
What I've found is that the Genesis does not really shine when compared to its closest competitors. I mean; 15.2@91 for the 2.0t is mediocre nowadays. The V6 running low 14 is reminiscent of y2k when the S2k came out.
I mean, if we can say that kind of performance is mediocre for a car like the Si so we must be fair and say it is so for the Genesis as well, especially when you have 13sec stock Cobalts running around out there, and suvs deep in the 13s and 14s. Skidpad numbers for the Genesis are also nothing to write home about, not when you have a stock 370z pulling almost 1g in every review you read.
Let's face it; the Genesis lacks gopower and it lacks handling prowess. It will never be among the best in its class with those shortcomings. Hence the mediocre appellation. Its best assets are looks and price, but those two alone do not define a great product.

I think Hyundai was aiming high but honestly fell a little short of unrealistic expectations.
Hyundai will take a few more years to rival nissan or honda. They put out a rwd coupe (turbo) that is set to do battle with fwd civics and gti's. It's a great package in it's class. But it doesn't have quite the polish of the next level up

After purchasing the BMW, we got surprise pregnant with baby #2 (who arrived Saturday!!!!!!!!!!). Talked to a dealership that has Mitsubishi and BMW about 3 hours form here, got way more than my trade was worth and $7499 off the Evo's MSRP and 0% interest for 5 years. I dropped my payment substantially, knocked a year and a half off my payoff term, and have ample room for my new son in the back. I liked the BMW more, I need the Evo more. I saved over $13,000 doing this. Throwing a little cash, the amount I financed on this Evo is less than what I financed on the last Evo.
If I was smarter, I would have kept the IX long ago and not had automotive tourette syndrome.
If I dump this car someday, it'll be for a beater. Got $1400/month daycare bills to pay now, son! Cars seem like child's play compared to that. (Heck, so does my house). Daycare sucks.
