I love this shot, but I am wondering if you're over sharpening. This one, while not as bad, is also a little harsh looking.

Didn't turn out the way I saw it in my mind...  Sunset Catch by Trench301, on Flickr Think a haze or matte overlay would make it better? If you do a haze, which I think would look great, you need to take those blacks and tone them down a little. I think the blacks/shadows are too dark, but that's my personal opinion.

Leave the sharpening on the tracks, kill it on the trees and clouds ftw.

That's a fantastic looking river, any idea what kind of runs it gets?
Mostly grayling, there is a small king and chum salmon run too, and the lakes on the upper river are stocked with trout too.

Come on up, you'd be in heaven here. The upper Chena River is catch and release only, so the fish are big and there's a LOT of them. I know at least a dozen good little spots on the way to Chena Hot Springs alone, mostly from my boss showing me on ride-withs. I don't even fish and it made me want to get a pole and spend a day or three out on the river.
Grayling is a bucketlist fish for sure. I can't eat the god damn things anyhow so they always go back

Old hikers pro tip: keep some steel wool in your pack. You can light it even when wet so it makes for great kindle to start a fire. You can light it with a spark, flame and even electricity (a car battery).
