got some film back. i've got everything i need at home to develop film now, so no more paying. It was $20 to get low res scans and develop of 2 rolls. fuck that! I'm going to buy a refurb'ed epson V600 for $150 from Epson. I inherited the containers and beakers and shit, and bought the two chemicals for about $6 per bag that'll make a gallon each. Anyways...got some cool pics from the horse races and the trip to downtown Pasadena to see Joel Grimes, and a great sunrise shot on the road to Vegas from the above posted pinup/hotrod/hanger shoot. Figure I'll start with one of our own

The in-laws celebrate a bunch of spring birthdays at Santa Anita horse track, and usually will go to this little Italian place in Eagle Rock that they've been going to forever.

this is the night i surprised my wife with a puppy.was only like two months ago, crazy how fast ruby has grown.
and i'm going to break the rules and post Thelma too so I don't feel guilty about favoriting the puppy over my old gal. this was on HP5. I ended up putting this one on my bank card. yaaaa

nice, i need to pick one up. i had intended to get the tiffen vari-nd, i'd found a review that made it out to be pretty decent for the price, but then i had second thoughts.

I'm not convinced on the vari-ND concept. I sometimes wish I had just gotten a straight up 9 stop ND filter.
I'm not sure the wood would've looked that good with my vari-ND (being two pieces of glass to shoot through, vs. just 1).

totally...also, a vari-ND is a very good idea for video. The pro cameras have a built in ND filter wheel for a reason...would be the first accessory I'd get if I were shooting video with these SLR deals.

I would think with screw on filters you might have issues, but with a setup like Vader runs (I'm assuming that's a Lee Kit) I doubt it.

i had cutoff issues when i stacked the filter holder over a UV filter on a 10-22. i have one similar to the left. you can undo the brass screws and add/remove slots. that was the actual cause of the cutoff. so i just removed one of the slots since i only use one filter.
in a pinch, you could free-transform the corners and stretch it out a bit.
EDIT: holy crap, when did filter holders get so expensive?
