They make the fire flare up a bit. We figured it was the sugar, but sugar by itself didn't work. Different flavors worked differently as well. The whole thing was just a bit weird. And the dog on the right is obsessed with embers and tried to attack any that came off the fire.

Agreed. If it was just a bit lighter and there was a little more contrast between the subject and the background, it'd be perfect.

That pic would make a nice gallery wrap.

Gallery wrap. That's where they print it on canvas and mount it on a wood frame so that about 1" of the outer perimeter of the pic wraps around the frame. Works best when none of the critical elements of the pic are too near the edge. Google gallery wrap and you'll see what I mean.

Normally I'd want the car in focus and the fence blurry, but that pic really works well the other way 'round. Nice job.

That smile is a winner. If the crop at the wrist bugs you, you can fix it by cropping in tighter on the left side (to the child's head or so). Cropping mid fore-arm is generally considered ok (who the "they" are that consider cropping at the joints a no-no and cropping mid-limb ok, that I don't know).

As I type this, the "in response to:" frame at the bottom of the screen has the picture cropped to roughly a square with no arms showing and that looks really good to my eye. Full of strong diagonals. YMMV.

Thanks. I think the smile really is what draws the eye rather than the awkwardness of the crop, after looking at it more.

I'd totally agree with you. I was getting a bit frustrated because the fences just WOULDNT go away... and this was a location that we were able to get to that no body else could but the fence just really fucked up most of the shots. i did the best i could to focus thru it at times (with other shots). Technically i was right up against the last fence before the track where most other people were behind two fences. i had JUST gotten the 580EXii flash and wasnt really able to use it save for these few motion blur shots cause of the damn fence.

Looking for a little C&C. This is awful but try to bear with me, as this is the third time I've ever used my strobes.

Point here was to get this guy to win an engine bay contest on his local suby forum. There was a front plate that I cloned out, but otherwise youre just looking at a small crop/color and exposure adjustments. It's a single shot (as you can tell by all the HARSH shadows) but I think it (mostly) works.

Thoughts?
