Oh yeah, it's dark as crap in the aquarium. The T2i does ISO 3200 pretty well, so I left it in auto-ISO capped at ISO 3200 for most of the trip in anticipation of the poor light. In order to shoot 1/250sec @ f/2.8, the camera decided it wanted ISO 3200. ISO 1600 would have worked, but I liked the results at the time.

Congrats on the new lens. Once you've taken a pic inside you're pretty much done and can move on. \:D

They're both at the same 36mm effective fov, but the bison is in full landscape mode while the elk is not quite close enough for serious distortion, but not far enough away for no distortion. Plus the deep dof makes the background distracting for the elk, but it's part of the greater image for the bison.

I agree.

I typed out something and had mixed up the two shots. It's an interesting look.

Try raising the shutter speed and ISO. To be fair, the 300mm long end of that lens isn't going to be stunning.

That pic could look a ton better with some post processing. Needs a bump in the black levels, etc. This is just a quick example that's grainy from using a .jpg and me not having any PP skills:

Yea this is pretty rough still... Needs a lot of work smoothing out and creating a lighting scheme which makes sense. I'm not sure yet weather I'll leave the flares, or remove them, or move them, or add more, or what... lol

Works like a charm. I haven't been using that lens in a week or so because I'm trying to get the pigeons away from my yard. I wish that hawk would show up again to chase them off.
