So.. anyone ever made a custom desk/table top? As in laminating boards to make one solid area or just cutting out of a piece of wood? either or?.. whichever is easiest/cost effective? Something where I can grab some ikea table legs and call it a day.
If you are serious, rona and hd both sell reclaimed wood panels which you can easily make into a table. Sold in various sizes. Go to ikea, bolt some legs on and be done.

Something where I can grab some ikea table legs and call it a day. I am going to attempt laminating 2x4s to make a solid top for a work bench in the near future. Just purchased a router for this project. Doesn't look too difficult why a router? are you using it for a biscuit bit? grab some long pipe clamps or a 4x8 sheet of plywood where you can add some stops to clamp to. A router to flatten the surface without a planer like this guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0SDvKHcL5MPipe clamps will be required too. I was planning to just make the top out of 2 sheets of 3/4 ply but the laminated 2x4s seems more durable.
I've seen those diy planer sleds using a router, imo its a lot of work specially for a work bench top, smaller times not so much
Imo be easier to laminate 2x10 or 2x8 it will be fairly flat

My buddy made a planner bed to flatten the top of my 10ftx48in harvest table, lol. He originally had plans to bring it into Ottawa to a place with a planner big enough, but just said fuck it.
