1x6 can be found everywhere but not 1x9 Where else can I get lumber other than Home Depot, Lowes, or Home Hardwares. |
why are you looking to buy a used VW? |
a lumber yard |
Rona? |
1x9 is an odd ball length, normally 8 or 10 feet |
Use zip ties. |

why don't you buy the bigger width and have them rip it down on the saw |

You asked the right forum. Vas will appear with a solution shortly. |

This has to be the dumbest thread on this forum in a long time. |

what type of wood are you looking for? mdf? pine? oak? home depot has some larger panels you can cut down, or take some 6" ones and glue another length on with biscuits |
Are these actual measured or nominal dimensions you're looking for because different materials are measured differently |
I just need to re-make this planter. Just built this deck with 1x6x6 and it was only $2.30 something per piece It would be perfect if they had 1x9x6. Actually Rona has 1x10x6, but it's pine and over $20 a piece. |
why not just rebuild it with 2 x smaller pieces instead of one big one? if not then your gonna spend more money on buying more expensive stock and cutting it seems like your're overthinking such a small project |
Just more work joining 2 pieces together. and not sure if HD or Lowes would cut 3" off lengthwise. I don't have a table saw. Have the circular saw, but...just wanted to locate the 1x9s so it's much less work. |
You can make a saw sled to make straight rips if you want to do it yourself |
just get one 2x10 spf board and cut as needed |
What the fuck, stop complicating this shit for fuck sakes |
So.. anyone ever made a custom desk/table top? |

This would've been a perfect troll thread if OP was capable. |

OP - why use wood, use cake product to make a new box and write it off as a business expense. |
Cake business would have to be profitable in order to have write offs. |

Just purchased a router for this project. Doesn't look too difficult |

or add a 1x2 inside the planter to join the two pieces of wood together. if this is outside, id recommend pressure treated or cedar. |

A router to flatten the surface without a planer like this guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0SDvKHcL5M Pipe clamps will be required too. I was planning to just make the top out of 2 sheets of 3/4 ply but the laminated 2x4s seems more durable. |

Go to ikea, bolt some legs on and be done. |

yea, gonna have to re-evaluate whats the best solution for the space I'm working with. |

I've seen those diy planer sleds using a router, imo its a lot of work specially for a work bench top, smaller times not so much Imo be easier to laminate 2x10 or 2x8 it will be fairly flat |

Originally Posted By: phoenixrage yea, gonna have to re-evaluate whats the best solution for the space I'm working with. You going for cheap or beauty? I bought a strip cherry counter top and made end tables out of it including the legs (only owning a circular saw) and oiled it for finish. They are beautiful, pricey, but if I could have bought them in the store I'm sure they'd have been much more. |

something cheap is fine, i'm currently just using an ikea table top. I just need it to be a specific shape/dimensions. |

He originally had plans to bring it into Ottawa to a place with a planner big enough, but just said fuck it. |
