I'm pretty proud of my 10 year old, she only took a one hour lesson last year and she stayed up. No fancy tricks, just her first time behind the SL242

Not sure if Obama's daughters or Wayne's daughters are more privileged.

I'm going to get her a slalom ski first, and then a wakeboard. Is there much of a transition to wakeboarding?

....one is facing forwards. The other is sideways.

for some there is, others just pick it up right away.

I did water skiing for 1 summer, then tried wakeboarding the next. Took me a solid 20 attempts to get up and stay up (and I did snowboarding at the time too).

I find the biggest hurdle is just teaching them how to get out of the water since you start sideways and have to keep your knees bent. Many of them want to jump up right away and fall face first.

The next hard part is not letting the board spin around once you're on top of the water. Key is to keep the handle at your hips and and look forwards, otherwise the board tends to come around and you risk catching an edge and doing a face plant which sucks and can lead to a concussion if you're not careful.

they're nothing alike. I still say go slalom next... it's pretty fun. I use to have a course out front of our cottage \:D I'd say there's a lot more similarities between knee boarding and wakeboarding - control wise.
