Lol @ chikd at the end. Always save a 300-400m kick. Practice it in workouts

Here's the course map. Pretty flat, really hoping 21-23 don't fuck me over...

So Rehoboth Marathon is in 6 weeks. Very flat. Do I go for it and try to break 3? My wife said if I do, she'll run it as well and try to qual for Chicago.

Hahaha, my wife is the one that really got me into marathon running; prior to meeting her, I had only run 1, and it was for fun. Since meeting her, I've run 4 in the past 5 years, and I've PRed each time. It's been amazing to have that kind of support.
Eh, so Chicago signup ends at the end of November, which means she will not be able to do a qual attempt this year. Kind of bummed, she ran a 3:48:09 (beat her PR by 8 minutes!), and she needs a 3:45 for guaranteed entry. I am going to sign up for Chicago and she is going to enter the lottery; if she doesn't get in, then she'll run marine corps marathon again and be in the lifelong club, as this is number 5 for her (if you run 5 marine corps marathons, you get guaranteed entry for the rest of your life).
I also think I'm going to sit out Rehoboth. We had a conversation over dinner last night, and the question was whether the priority for me was to get to Boston or break 3 hours, and ultimately I think in my heart of hearts it's Boston. With the BQ time adjustment for 2020, I'm BQ -2:27, so I am fairly confident that I am safe. I also think Sunday took a lot more out of me than I thought; I could barely press the clutch down on my car today without cramping up. I think the prudent thing is shut it down, recover, ramp back up in Feb/March, do a few training cycles, and really go for it at Chicago: it's a Major, it's super flat, and it's known to be fast.

Trail Ragnar turned out to be a lot of fun. I wound up picking up an extra segment to cover for a missing runner (got a back-to-back from 11pm until 12:30am or so).
My best loop was the first: The whole thing just felt great, never seemed like I was pushing hard, a++ would run again: https://www.strava.com/activities/1942188776
I'm the short mofo 3rd from the left:

I love, love, love Ragnar. I've run 3 Trail Ragnars (West Virginia once and Virginia twice) and the road Ragnar DC once. The WV one, we placed 3rd in the Sub-masters and got the sweet belt buckle along with the finisher medal

Looks intense, I never heard of a Ragnar before. Is the Ragnar village similar to a college frat party, cause the video kinda looked like it?
It seems like it can be whatever you make it: One of the teams across the way from us had a bunch of ultra runner partiers: I think they started slamming beers and doing shots the morning before the race, all throughout, and up until the afternoon conclusion.
Most of the other teams were mixed/varied, but it's definitely a good time if you bring some food/drinks/whatever.

I'm sort of intrigued by this trail ragnar thing. Seems like a lot of down time for... drinking(?) though.
Can you divide loops however you'd like?

So you have green, yellow, red loops. Each loop ranges from like 4-8 miles. You have 8 runners per team. Each runner must run all 3 loops. Most common way to do it is:
Runner 1: G Runner 2: Y Runner 3: R Runner 4: G Runner 5: Y Runner 6: R Runner 7: G Runner 8: Y
And so on and so forth. There are ultra teams (4 people per team), and there is a little bit of flexibility here. Runners may either go GG, YY, RR, or GY, RG, YR, etc., or run 1 loop at a time but have double the rotations.
I've done the trail 3 times now, it's a ton of fun. You do have a good bit of downtime to hang out, drink beer, etc. Last year, I brought a Coleman camp stove and grilled burgers/dogs for everyone on the team; it was a blast. The event organizers do nice little things like bonfires at night and free marshmallows/graham crackers and such. Some teams REALLY go all out on their campsites with decorations.
I'd like to do it again next year (maybe an ultra team) if my training schedule allows for it.

Speaking of Ragnar, doing Los Coyotes Trail this weekend. Last year's was a ton fun. You guys really need to do one if given the chance.
Hit me up if you're serious on doing a ClubSi one.

Shit, I think if we get a list of truly interested people it might be worth some serious research. Location is going to be biggest hurdle, obviously. I get DC to Tahoe is not super realistic. We do have a lot of runners over here tho: dirty, amps, mrmom, dare I say stickaz . More to the middle of America would be cool too. Colorado, Appalachians, shit I don't know much of the terrain that far east.

So my wife and I are in. I brought it up in passing, and she's actually down for Tahoe . It would give us a solid reason to get out there. Selfishly, I've already done Ragnar Trail Appalachian, and would like to do something different Colorado would be awesome too

Yea I went for an easy jog and bike ride in it yesterday in the East Bay and now I feel like I have a sore throat, a cold, and AIDS most likely. I'm thinking cancellation was a good call. It wasn't nearly as bad yesterday as today. The South Bay looks like an apocalypse. I'm wondering if the just cooked myself for my final race of the year
