Sorry to hear snaps You will bounce back before you know it, unfortunately those of us who'd line up for sucky sucky will be out of luck
As far as EI, I don't think you are eligible to receive any until your severance has run out (pro rated at your latest annual salary). If you want pm me the details of the package, there might be room to threaten legal action to get more (we settle those out of court almost weekly )
I will keep an eye out for any suitable postings.

oh ok cool, sorry, i half-ass read posts when working lol. you asked how EI works, so there you have it in the links :P
as for real life, i've had it happen...sucks, but honestly after a week you get over it and you enjoy yourself (as you've been doing, which is good). i just chilled out for 2 months during the summer it happened, lived of EI plus what little savings i had (living at home helped).
i got an email from Service Canada that I had to go to that shitty job meeting they make you attend (you'll get one soon), you had to fill out a form/list to "prove" you were applying to jobs, otherwise they can cut your EI. it was funny because i was all worried and shit, i spent a few hours trying to find all the emails/job applications i had send out in my browser history/etc. i think i ended up with maybe only 5-6 jobs applications on my list i found, whereas i actually had applied to like 20 legit ones.
i thought i was gonna get reamed at that meeting, i show up on time...say 12 out of the 15 ppl there did fuck all, no list/nothing, half of which couldnt speak english LOL - my paperwork looked golden compared to them haha and the lady just looked at it, said "ok good", checked some shit off and i left in 20mins after discussing some items with her.
anyways, like RB said given your education and current work experience i see you posted i dont think you will have any issues finding work. it's full time work LOOKING for full time work, just hit up monster/workopolis and whatever sites non stop till you get a hook. i find if you follow up with HR directly after applying (say 1-2wks) it can help. tho many companies i find take months to freaking hire you after you first apply.
i saw honda is hiring for a couple spots (rare), i see titles but no real description, but ill PM you. i also used a good logistics/supply back then - Trans Logic in Cambridge, will send you their info too.

Rather than saying "sorry to hear" - I am going to say "congrats!"
It's not everyday you get paid to leave a job you hate / no longer like (which you'd quit on if you found the next best thing anyway).
At least now it you're on paid vacation. Sounds like you've been there for a while.
Not that I'd recommend where I work as a place to work, toss me your résumé and I can forward it to the PMO - as they are always changing PMs like people change their undies.

Just remember that is pre-tax. She will have to pay income tax once she files.
