JDP is still very much seen by the industry as the standard, but sales/product/marketing look at all the ratings outlets, CR included.
Whether it's true or not, CR definitely portrays themselves as the most neutral.. hell they don't even use manufacturers' super-finished press units. They buy their own cars to review.
Though, of course, every news agency, review site, consumer magazine, ratings company, etc will have their biases.
When you get into the online arena, blogs and video sites, etc, a lot of supposedly "journalistic" content is actually advertorials that are paid for by manufacturers in secret.
World's Fastest Car Show just got busted for doing just that. Pure advertorials.

f30 compared to lexus IS... compared to TSX/TLs.. it might not be a lot of feel, but still some feel... and the bmw's feel better. (relative term).
even comparing X5 vs MDXs.. or the F25 X3s vs RDXs... etc etc
Ohhh! Wow, the cars you name above (IS/TSX) are that bad? I havent driven recent versions of either car. But wow, those must be completely numb XD Do you happen to have one of those employee lease special dealies like spd-dmn?
I have access to a 'drive your brand' deal, but I ain't baller enough for that yet. its 1% of the MSRP as the monthly payment, and there's a limit on the mileage and it can only go for 12 months.

The recent versions of Lexus usually win in the feels tests for the equivalent trim. Cadalliac is also doing well.

Ok, so you are pissed. I can understand that XD Are your balls tied to Acura? Bc if you are having all these issues, and Acura is being crappy about it, why are you considering another one @_@ You talk about how other cars miss the mark on quality, yet you have replaced a timing component 5x on a brand new car...made by a manufacturer that is renowned for reliability. Not to mention, the new/future car in question is a brand new platform and has yet to have all the kinks worked out (see tranny issue on the more powerful model). Sure, no issues on the 4 banger *that we know of yet*! You are paying more money for something that is unknown, and honestly, of dubious quality from the same manufacturer. Are you considering anything else at all (like uh, keeping the car and aiming to get the head replaced?)? Oh and to Ed: Wut. F30 has more feel than what? A Camry? XD When I drove it, I wanted walked away from it once the car started rolling. The brakes, steering, errytang is void of feedback And I drove an M sport with the servotronic and fixed calipers to boot!!!! Though mind you, I also find the E90/92 M3 steering to be far worse in feedback than the E90/92 335 as well(servotronic vs no linear steering).
balls not tied to acura, but i do like them. even tho they are taking their time with the fix it's not the dealerships fault, they are actually the ones who have been good. my beef is with honda taking their time to get someone there instead of troubleshooting over the phone. kinda stupid imo.
the only other car i would consider would be the lexus is F-sport, but it's just way out of the budget, would be a great car to own but i don't want a V6, and the price of the car is alot.
my TSX isn't brand new either. it's a 2010 used car with 115,xxxkm on it now. perhaps i just want to get into something new so i don't have to (hopefully) deal with these kinds of problems. don't forget, i would only lease the TLX, so if it did give me problems up the ass i would have no problem giving it back and then seeing what my options were when the lease is up.
If i keep the car great,i love the car and like drivnig the true 6spd. only thing that worries me is if i get a repeat problem down the road when my warranty is up and those repairs will have to come out of pocket.

i see what you are saying. But if Honda is dragging their feet, that wouldn't make me buy another one of their cars. 48k out the door seems like a bonkers amount of money for that car.

bmw - nope. my pops has a brand new 2013 3 series x drive. what a pos that thing is. benz - nope audi - nope lexus - love too, but too much coin. Ford - nice, but no cars that fit my needs perfectly, maybe the fusion but not totaly sold on it toyota - no beige corolla/camry honda - maybe an accord touring kia-nope hyundai - perhaps, but haven't really had confidence in that brand. they do make some nice cars. GM - fuck no. volvo - wouldn't feel comfortable with it because i know dick all about them acura - TLX/ILX are both optioned well for fair prices with reputable reliability tell me i'm wrong or hide behind the "eww look at the grill or headlights"
The opposite of love is indifference, but Infiniti doesn't even get to the list?
