hatorade : NO 2015 TLX tech pkg, white, brand new, lease. would be exactly the same as i'm paying now. 4banger, OEM kit. -heated steering wheel -heated and powered seats -heated rear seats -nav -lane assist -brake assist blah blah issues holding me back: -no 6spd, haven't driven the 4 banger yet but i have a fwd V6 right now, and it's nice..V6 moves pretty damn good. -made in america..yay that's about it. hit it? would rim and drop it. |
I guess the big thing is to determine if it's enough of a difference to you to pay for the premium for the new car and the hit for unloading the old one. It's going to be better but usually every new similar car is for the most part. Your current car is pretty new and I'm sure does the job just as well and it's not even old or doesn't look old at all. |
word, you're right it's really dependent on how much honda will give me back for my car. i would hope that it would atleast cover the loan. |
I found there was a big difference in the 6MT TSX vs the auto. I assume it would be the same for the TLX. |
i was givin er in the V6 last night..in mexico. jeebus it's no slouch. but the paddle shifting is slow for my tastes. i hear that the 4cyl is much faster and that it rev matches on downshifts. i'm trying to figure out if the suspension firms up between the modes, i was in econo mode and hit a bump, and the car floated like an old buick over a big bump, i haven't been able to replicate it tho. |
meh |

Lateral moves at a premium? Leave that for wallies. |
That particular one has the "launch kit" on it. Those rims and body skirts are dealer options. What are they asking for those? Looking at the picture again, those skirts don't colour match very well. |
sorry it's not the actual one in the pic but same thing except the rims (I'll put aftermarket rims on it for spring) total price is $48,598 tax in for the tech, optioned the way I want it and warranty. pretty much just with the oem kit. |
50k for a 4 banger! That's nuts There has to be better options in that price range |
50k Titty don't do it, there are like a thousand better cars you can get for the money. |
this is the 4banger thus it has the 8spd tranny (ie. the NON issue one right now), the other is making me sick with work lol...fawk. this dct is USA built and decent. just make sure if you buy you bring it in for any software updates req'd. at least it's not CVT it's a nice car but not the *most* exciting...but it does the job very well...drive one for a week. um $50k? is it? i guess cos it's the tech pack one. but hey any other make/model similar with all the trimmings im sure is similar priced. the 4cyl moves decent as honda places the power band much lower/mid-range now (same as the '15 Accord 2.4 4cyl im driving now), honestly it's great for daily. 206hp with 182 trq is decent given the weight of the car. also on the hwy after 110kmh is where it starts to noticeably weaken. the 6cyl is very smooth, more than enough. i *think* this 4cyl you can get away with 87oct...but not sure. i know from info here that acura has no (current) plans to build any manual trannies...rumour is a 2dr coupe TLX will come out though. but hey, see BMW...info i saw on them shows them cutting down their manual trannies A LOT for Canada....csi just started crying, lulz. all paddle soon, i assume it's all series 3,4,5,6,7...hopefully the 3 series gets a manual. |
50k? Fuck that. |
50k, i'd rather buy an s3, or a5 if you can swing 2 doors... or golf r...or mustang gt, or IS350, or, focus st/rs, or a bazillion other things. I didn't realize the ILX can get to 50k. I would put bimmers in my list too--except I drove the new ones, and they suck XD wut @_@ |
TLX 4cyl tech is $38,700 msrp and you can prob get it cheaper...not sure where 50k is coming from? |

Well i dunno what options he is adding, but say 2-3k worth, plus tax = almost 50k Thanks to people like him the rest of us reap the befints of a 3-5 year old used car lol serisouly man, 50k! on a 4cyl. 4age listed of a huge amount of options that are waaaayyy better |

Thanks to customers like titty they are keeping Honda afloat with garbage after garbage. I am with 4age on this one, wow value @.@ I feel bad for screamin', he is trying to stand up for the brand and they keep shoving sh!t down his throat that's hard to justify. At least he is still trying, he deserves employee of the month just for dealing with this forum alone (hatorade in particular) XD |

for real it's more supplier parts WITHIN the car that are the real pains (i see it daily) so if anything i know all the downfalls, vas would know i'm sure. it sucks when accountants/sales take over vs. true design/engineering side...ugh. overall quality still good but definite aspects need to be looked at (like any other make). i speak more for acura side on this than honda to be honest...i dunno how they make money re. acura, lol. no blindfolds here man, if i 'had the money' it prob wouldn't be my first choice either. but again OP is adding stuff on to jack the price. just remember, they (like any company) want to make money...and we've had this discussion before, MOST customers don't care for OMG 300hp or OMG RWD (v6 sure maybe)...we all look at things from our "car guy" biased in that sense. i wish the car company would too again sometimes... |

Without those add ons, it`s still a $45,000 front wheel drive 4 banger car. But if you compare the price with similarily equipped German sedans, it`s probably cheaper, and people have no issues paying for those. |

Well there may be a saving grace around the corner, but it's still a giant "we will see". And that is that Ito is out and Hachigo is in. Hachigo comes from a production background, as well as purchasing and some vehicle design, so he has had close dealings with the product and with the supply chain. He is also less known than some other high profile people, so maybe he will be more focused at getting the job done than on political posturing. Here's hoping. Honda was once an absolutely brilliant car company... but sadly that brilliance has wavered since Soichiro-sensei passed away. |

BMW 320i: - Connected Drive service package - Navigation package - Sports auto with paddles = $43,108 before HST. |

^ Also: Audi A4 - 37k IS250 - 37k S3 - 44k 235i - 44k STi - 36k I know A4/320/IS250 are all underpowered, but we're comparing to a 200hp honda here. All of the above + what Big Tasty mentioned is more powerful doe XD |

Originally Posted By: spd-dmn eh not quite 320i is 180 hp Ya that was kinda my point in that it is less performance for much more. Keep in mind that the price I listed was without HST while Titties price included it as well so add another 5k to the sum. Not sure if bmw has any kinda skirt package to compare to his TLX price too. So the Acura is not so bad comparably. |

Sports auto with paddles was included in my price. You can get it separate under "Options". |

It's in the same price range more or less... Ok so where does the TLX fall in? Is it a 5 series competitor or a 3 series? Since there's no more TSX. I won't even bother mentioning the RLX LMFAO. |

I just priced out a BMW 320i and optioned like the TLX and it's $49,100 without HST. It doesn't include anything M. But has 18" rims instead of TLX's 17" C-class was $50k without AMG options. |

How's the S3 $1K more. You are comparing a loaded Acura to a base S3. You can also get a TLX for $35k and still comes with more options than the S3. Depends where you want to spend your money. For me, I am not interested in a base S3. I'd rather the spend more or wait a couple of years and get a fully loaded to the tits S3. If you want a brand new car with all the convenience features and can live without high HP, you get a TLX. If you want 300+ HP plus all the goodies for less than 50k, you get a Hyundai Genesis. Gold R and Focus RS are not luxury 4 door sedans. |

Golf R might surprise you. |

holy shit tree pages. everything new is friggin 50K now. thought you bmw humpers would be used to that by now like porschetr priced out, a bmw 320i optioned with nav and as close to the options of the TLX comes out to $48,780 oh and that's without any kind of extended warranty without tax. for a flippin 320i! oh and it doesn't have some of the options that the TLX already has, like auto starter and heated rear seats. audi can't/wont be far behind that, and don't get me started about audi quality; yes honda quality has gone downhill but compared to the germans..cmon, but that's a can of worms and everyone has their own opinion on it. i checked insurance last night, and funny thing about it is that it's actually cheaper than my TSX. the money i save on insurance and the same car payment i'd be saving money on a month to month basis. i should mention that the new car would be a lease... if you guys haven't driven a TLX go drive one. i'm not saying that it's OMG RACECAR but for what it is, it's pretty damn good. that rear steering assist thing lets the car turn like it's on rails (for a stock car) i'm actually very impressed with the handling on the car. |
^Saving money month to month vs total savings at the end of owning a car are two different things. If the difference is substantial (assuming your TSX is purchased, and you have already paid off 2 years worth or whatever), then whatever savings you get via insurance and what not is negligeable. + you are throwing away the money you already dumped into the TSX. Tho, if you like a heated steering wheel that much, who am i to argue XD (i dont have one of those!) |
oh for sure. yes i'll be saving month to month but the car is still twice the price of mine. lol it's affordable is all that i'm saying. I havn't even owned the tsx for a year yet, but the problems (moreso the time wasting) with honda trying to figure out this VTC shit is getting annoying. and dat heated steering wheel |
I think he meant you already spent XXX money on a car. You don't save any money by getting a new car, you just extend your payment by xxx years. At the end of the day, you would have spent $90,000 on two cars. Well, a lease of $90,000 car. |
imo, the 3 series would feel better on the road vs any fwd car. |

What's wrong with the TSX, i didn't realize you are having problems? How much is the repair? I thought you liked that car, it's in good condition, what gives? alright here's the deal. so i bought the car last april, VTC started making noise in the fall. since then it's been back to acura for like 4 vtc's. car runs and drives fine, but regardless it's not supposed to make that noise. honda doesn't have a fix for it. fast forward to now, honda, instead of getting off their asses and sending someone over, they do the same song and dance of making audio and video recordings, sending it over to the tech line, wating, and then just replacing the VTC again. they've also replaced any and everything that could be related to the noise. timing chain, tensioner, starter, water pump, everything. after all of that, acura has had the car for the last month..maybe more, and the piss off part about it is that it's just sitting in the parking lot doing sweet jack all. so i've gotten honda canada in on it. now i'm just getting back and fourth from honda canada and the dealership. this one needs to speak with this one, and so on. driving brand new loaners is nice and all, but i want MY car back. the "fix" to this problem, is a brand new head. they need to make the call if they are going to do it or not already and quite frankly being on the 4th or 5th VTC, i don't want the car back with yet another VTC. my next move to is contact CAMVAP (Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan) to see if a buyback is possible, hence why i was looking at the TLX. basically it's just turning into a bunch of time wasting and inconvience. |

Ok, so you are pissed. I can understand that XD Are your balls tied to Acura? Bc if you are having all these issues, and Acura is being crappy about it, why are you considering another one @_@ You talk about how other cars miss the mark on quality, yet you have replaced a timing component 5x on a brand new car...made by a manufacturer that is renowned for reliability. Not to mention, the new/future car in question is a brand new platform and has yet to have all the kinks worked out (see tranny issue on the more powerful model). Sure, no issues on the 4 banger *that we know of yet*! You are paying more money for something that is unknown, and honestly, of dubious quality from the same manufacturer. Are you considering anything else at all (like uh, keeping the car and aiming to get the head replaced?)? Oh and to Ed: Wut. F30 has more feel than what? A Camry? XD When I drove it, I wanted walked away from it once the car started rolling. The brakes, steering, errytang is void of feedback And I drove an M sport with the servotronic and fixed calipers to boot!!!! Though mind you, I also find the E90/92 M3 steering to be far worse in feedback than the E90/92 335 as well(servotronic vs no linear steering). |

Below BMW XD lol not sure why all the bashing. dude even with a 'drop' in honda/acura (that shows how high they were), they still are above so many others :P - and now are back on track to improve (they take that shit seriously) yeah, buick is always high in the ratings...no idea how lol. i assume they even out the ratio of # of cars sold vs. issues to make it fair. acura needs to improve though for sure. sad lol. dude bmw is way down there with JD Power (i know a couple of our ex-emps working there and their bosses are always harping to work on improving their shit...they want to at least get up to MB level, lol!). regardless of ratings.....are you gonna go really BUY a buick? lol |

^JD power rewards are also paid for by manuf's. As you know, companies pay for JD power survey results. How is it not a conflict of interest - JD power, rating stuff industry wide, selling their results to companies. Pay me a little more to make the ratings a little better. winkwinkwinkwink. |

JD Power is one of the worst they do their ratings as one business unit and they also do consultancy as another. so JDP gets paid A LOT OF MONEY to consult for OEMs on how to best "adapt" the product offering to "consumer preferences" yeah. right. |

JDP is still very much seen by the industry as the standard, but sales/product/marketing look at all the ratings outlets, CR included. Whether it's true or not, CR definitely portrays themselves as the most neutral.. hell they don't even use manufacturers' super-finished press units. They buy their own cars to review. Though, of course, every news agency, review site, consumer magazine, ratings company, etc will have their biases. When you get into the online arena, blogs and video sites, etc, a lot of supposedly "journalistic" content is actually advertorials that are paid for by manufacturers in secret. World's Fastest Car Show just got busted for doing just that. Pure advertorials. |

If i keep the car great,i love the car and like drivnig the true 6spd. only thing that worries me is if i get a repeat problem down the road when my warranty is up and those repairs will have to come out of pocket. |

cheaper car more = more money for mods. get an appliance vehicle man. so much more you can do with your money than blow it on a $50k car. do you have to get something new? trade your tsx for something reliable and easy to maintain/mod. in a couple years when we see a new rwd acura/honda that is actually 'sporty' then spend it on that (if it ever materializes). in the meantime save your money. |

test drove the 4 banger today. that transmission is amazing, i hate flappy paddle gear boxes but this one was instant, rev matched down shifts and had no lag. such ugly doe if i can jew up a deal that i'm only out like $1000-$2000 i think i'll do it...which might not be hard because i found out that my buddy can order in the oem kit afterwards and save me about $1000 right there. |

yes and no. a younger cousin just got his first car and dropped by with it on the weekend, 5spd mazda 6 or whatever. took it for a drive and it was fun. got my car back today and it was nice too. however last week when work was kicking my ass dat auto... the paddles in the 4 banger tlx is very very quick. i was impressed, it was like it was a CVT transmission almost. |

a CVT doesn't shift at all.. that's why it's a CVT. I believe the tlx 4-banger has a dual clutch, which would explain the smooth and seamless shifts |

Modern cvt's have fake shift points in some of them because people seem to prefer it - may have been that |

haha yeah, Jeff, i know what you mean. You're probably right. though personally i wouldn't characterize that kind of shift as seamless, more like slipping CVTs always reminded me of a slipping clutch |

Pls..heel toe hero brah..Besides don't think bmw offers one. Especially not on a 13 yr old turd |

Nope no CVT was ever offered on BMW's. The only german turd I know that had it for a short period was the A4. |

Without the torque converter, it is very distinctly a dual clutch box. |

I don't even know what "deposit dropped" means. Is that a good thing (ie I put down a deposit) or a bad thing (ie I lost my deposit)? I'm guessing the former. |
sorry i was on my phone before and didn't want to type it out there. so yea, story goes, acura had the car for a month, get it back, still rattles, took a vid of it too to prove that i wasn't lying. took it back, a week later they say they can't hear shit. i called honda canada, had a meeting with the used car manager and the shop manager and honda canada on the phone. basically we came to an agreement that honda will buy back the car for $21k. i owe $24k. i also get to keep my winters and i have to put back on the tires it came with (which i have) at my cost. also, i wasn't tied at north toronto, i could shop around and honda will give me that same trade in value. so a difference of 3k, i get to keep my brand new winters (almost 1k) keep my lip, and if im' not lazy swap in the factory grill and sell the lip and grill together for $600-$800? i was playing the three dealerships off of each other, north toronto, vaughan, and barrie. thing was that there were no more TLX's in the combo i wanted, and they arn't getting anymore because the 2016's are coming in aug aparantly and will have different pricing and rates. acura barrie said they can get the car in two weeks, at $280 bi-weekly (paying $240 for the tsx) tax in with the negative equity, and all the jazz i wanted, so i dropped a deposit on it locking in the deal. only way it won't go through is if they can't get me the car for some reason. so $80 more a month, but like i mentioned before my insurance is $20 cheaper a month. Also, since this is the second time i'm financing from honda finance, i got 0.9% on the new lease (4yr/24,000km) which is much better than the 3.4% used car rate that was on the TSX. Details on the new car: 2015 TLX 4cyl tech. -bellanova white pearl, black interior -heated front and rear seats -IKAS (lane keep assist thing) -heated windshield wiper part -power folding mirrors -navi -premium sound system w/sub -heated steering wheel -remote starter -OEM skirt kit -adaptive cruise -lane departure warning -blind spot indicator -harddrive media storage one thing i can't decide on is if i should get the spoiler; and the fog lights (that are 1k. ) |

congrats man. wow you worked out the $ figures pretty good, i thought you'd take more of a hit for sure. guess i won't ask the mngr's there about you? lol..."dat fuggin' guy?!?" good thing it's the 8spd tranny...just saying the car drives nice, enjoy. i'm curious to see if these newer acuras will have high residual value later like honda/acura usuall have...but who knows. |
nice! we will need to see pics of the milk as soon as you get it |
please don't, they hate me at acura north toronto now. i think that they are more mad that i got the car for a price they didn't want to sell it to me for. thanks for the heads up on the 9spd trans. acura in vaughan had no more 4 banger tech's in, but they were actually giving me a V6 elite package for the same price....but it was black, V6 and this dark brown interior which i didn't want. i think this summer i might throw the thing around the track. the 4ws thing makes the car turn nicely, and it feelz like the car sits lower, has a lower centre of gravity than the TSX for sure. maybe if risky and euphoric want to bring out their heaps. |

Well you chose another Honda so you might be in the same situation? GL with the new car. I really liked how the previous gen. TL sh drove minus the shitty auto that would stall on emergency braking lol |

Titty, you pick this thing you yet? Wife and I are planning on having a look at an SH-AWD one this week. |

Titty, you washed and waxed your car knowing you woulda traded it in. We shoulda traded cars for a week so you coulda done the work on my car. |

Soon! I asked them to hold off for two weeks because I wanted to see what was happening with the house and child support first, now that I officially got the house and child support is LESS and next to nothing I can call and go ahead with it. Shit I was supposed to call them this week but caught up with my great grandmas memorial this weekend, after this Easter weekend I'll get on it. And a2b, I didn't do my spring detail on the car yet, been too cold. But i won't polish the tsx, no point since I'm trading it in really. Dumbass, Give it some good thought, the V6 moves, in fwd trim the tires will break free if you just pin the gas, however major torque steer (the 4ws thing helps on corners). The sh-4wd would be boss, at the same time they have a lot of fwd v6s around, I easily got offered a fwd v6 for less than what I was paying for the 4 banger tech. |

Dumbass why the potential move away from the value oriented Koreans? |
The Genesis Coupe is sticking around. Under $40K, there isnt anything else comparable aside from the Mustang. Full exhaust from the headers back, cat deletes, getting retuned this spring so its hardly slow. The TLX is also "value oriented" compared to the Euro models. Mid $40s loaded plus tax and $hit. Drives awesome, built like a tank, etc. Wife is pulling in some dough these days, so I think she just wants something better. If Hyundai made a middle ground car Id be happy. A rwd/awd Sonata with 300hp, smaller Genesis Sedan type car. A broke ass 3 series I guess lol. |

Yeah my wheels are different. I think the ones you posted look better not blacked out though. The lip spoiler looks decent though. Im going to get a quote to get the "beak" blacked out or maybe white to match the car. Ive been looking on kijiji for 19" HFP or A-Spec/Acura wheels and fawk people are crazy. Guys asking $1200 for wheels with bald tires and curb damage lol. Ive forgotten how over priced Honda parts are lol. |

(and that goes for any brand which it happens too, not just honda/acura). it's covered and they'll prob put new glass in it, that's what warranty is for. just a super pain it happend in the first place and he has to do it. |

For reference. Starts from the bottom edge where the heating element is. Im wondering if thats possibly the cause, heating the cold glass up too fast. It comes one automatically below 5c or so. Taking it in on Monday for them to inspect. |

Sure the glass can be replaced and if it's not done properly and the installer chips the paint it's going to rust. But that's what warranty is for right? So glad that I will NEVER own a new honda product again. |

It's not so much the glass that's the concern, but like Hatorade mentioned, what kind of halfassed install they might do. My wife's old Mini Cooper went through 3 successive windshields within 2 years. They all leaked and didn't fit right. I don't wanna go through that with this one. I've never dealt with Acura service so I'm hoping for the best. If they try to tell me that was caused by a chip or something I'm going to go ballistic though. |

At least the dealer was apologetic (rather than give me bs about it's wear & tear, etc.), offered me one of their loaners (not an Enterprise rental) free of charge on the spot and got it fixed up within a few days. I wasn't too annoyed w/ our "new delivery problem" as I would be if I was similar to Dumbass' problem (where any fixes could damage the paint / edges that lead to rust). But overall, it still sours the new car delivery experience. Whether you plunk down $20k or $50k for a car, you just don't expect to have to bring it back within a week (or within a month) with problems - big or small. It sours the whole new car purchase experience. As for the argument about where the glass is supplied from. It doesn't really matter. At the end of the day, I'm buying a product that the badge on the hood reflects. So whether it's made in-house or they got it from a supplier; it's still the auto maker's choice on their supplier so I'd still hold them at fault. (it's like if your iphone screen craps out - you blame Apple as a shitty product, not the supplier they got the screen from and not the mainland company out in the sticks that slap the phone together). |

Good news. Stopped by the dealer this morning for a quick check and they are going to replace it. Service Manager didnt make a big deal and over analyze it for damage either. First TLX with the issue he said, but he did mention a few MDX's with mysterious cracks. Still sucks to happen on a brand new car, but at least they are taking care of it. Budds put 3 windshields in the Mini that all leaked, cracked and werent installed right and it was like pulling teeth to get each consecutive repair done. |

don't get why the mini would be an issue if its all under warranty, they'll just have to keep re-doing it till it gets done right. warranty covers those extra costs anyways. |

The issue would be driving out to Oakville many many times, their "good enough" attitude when it visibly wasnt installed correctly, breaking things while repairing the windshield, not testing it for leaks or noise before giving it back, you name it. And all on a car that was brand new. Sure it didnt cost anything, but I still wasted my time and gas dealing with them, the inconvenience of the car constantly going back or not being drivable and just their poor attitude. They also had to replace the entire panoramic roof once because it didnt open/close properly and it leaked. My wife drove around for a month with it duct-taped shut and the power disconnected from it while they decided what/how to deal with it. The car was leased and fully inspected by one of their own people before it was returned. Low k's, no excessive wear, etc. Car was perfect and given a clean sheet. 3 months later I got a bill estimate in the mail from Budds for a brake service, new tires and a missing key. But, the car had about 4000 more k's on it then when it was returned. Those clowns had been driving it and were trying to stick me with the repairs. It did get resolved after a few calls to Budds, Mini Canada and my lawyer. Ive never dealt with a bigger bunch of sneaky, dishonest, lazy and incompetent morons then Budds and Mini. |

Thanks for the feedbacks. I will think twice before going to any of the Budds' dealerships in Oakville |

no offense, but what is up with bumper? Looks like some CT body kit special. TLX has nice clean lines, minus the headlights and grill and this "skirt package" ruins it badly IMO. |

Might be the angle of the pic, but I think it adds a lot to the car, but it's not the front lip, moreso the sides and rear: |
Nice. I don't know about that kit tho |
I don't like that kit either. When are they going to get rid of that ugly crease on the front ends? The rear looks really good. |

meh, as long as OP is happy |

That front lip reminds me of the mouth guard. The rest of the car is hot. |

Maybe that's why the good looking ones are black. You can't see those lines! |

nice pickup. RDX drives great/handles nice for its size. yes hator we know, blahblahblah lol the lights at night i think look decent/different. but yeah the grill i wish they'd slim the bloody thing down ugh, or you can paint it maybe? wish they've improve those lower bumper plastic garnishes, cheapy look. |

Yeah, the Genny wasn't cutting it for the winter anymore. Wife is driving out to Welland 3/4 days a week and living out where we do the roads don't get plowed all that well either. We looked at a few of the smaller CUV's (HRV, CRV, Tucson, CX5/3) but they were so boring to drive. At leats the RDX has some power and its real nice inside. I'll miss having a sporty car, but we might buy an S2K or a Miata for a fun car next year. If you're still looking, the Genny is for sale on the Acura lot. The lights on the RDX look better then the TLX I think. They have thin LED strips around them for the signals and the DRLs. The grill I'll prob back out like I did with the TLX and Ive already found a nice set of Acura 19's for it. |
