picked up the understanding exposure book last night. going to tear into it tonight
It's a great book and it will help you but it's not the only thing you need to be studying... IMO your biggest issue is the composition of the photo.

Duc, maybe pick up a few offroad magazines and see what kind of shots work for them? I get some great ideas from a lot of fishing mags. This is what everyone is talking about when they're referring to composition. The shot could be the perfect exposure, perfect light, perfect everything but if the composition is bad, it will look like any other boring picture.
Like the offroad truck or whatever on the course withe the trees, you wanna get in front of it and get in the action. Panning with the truck making everything else 'fuzzy' would have been a pretty cool shot. Look at some of Nates racing pics for even better examples.

Man, WTF. That upload looks like shit. I experimented with different resolutions and DPI and they all looked the same, even at 220 DPI and 3Kx1.5K resolution. What's up?

They are. If you view it on imgur it looks great, it scales nicely for my MBPR, but when I preview it on here it's fucking enormous and I hate it when people do that. I just wish it scaled nicely on this site. Ah well.

You know, it could be leaning left... but it might not be depending on how the clouds are on the left side... I looked at is as the far left of the clouds is closer to us and moves away as the sea comes to land... Now looking at it I think salty is correct, but whatev, I like it, a lot.
