Had the same problem. The firmware will update within 48 hours and it will be stable after that. I had to call the fuckers to do it in one day.

Thanks Wayne, I've been reading the same I'll give them a call tonight and get the update pushed.

So my router has the latest firmware, had a tech scheduled in this morning at 8am to check the line. It was reading 'high' so he fixed that. It's frozen once since the visit this morning. If this happens again overnight, this thing is going back to the store.

Anyone here running Teksavvy? They are available in Barrie now, similar 150 package and I can use my SB6141.

It's a DOCSIS 3.0 gateway, so I'm guessing no slower then what I'm getting with the Hitron. It's also certified to work on Teksavvy (Which runs on Rogers anyhow) so I'm not too worried.

Tech guy told me as long as it's on the approved list, it's not a problem. Lucky for me it was. I've gotta go into the store today to get the MAC/Serial scanned in because there's a character limit in their DB which won't allow fulfillment type it in over the phone

So apparently the tech guy I talked to was on crack, people at the Rogers store had no idea what the fuck was going on.. I'm on Hitron router #2, if this bullshit continues, I'm switching over to Teksavvy.

Yeah Bill. I went through a nightmare trying to get this modem up and running. I opted to buy it for 99$ at futureshop one day as it was on sale. I called rogers before I bought it to make sure everything was cool. They said buy it. I did and when I got home tried to set it up and wasnt working. They said I need to return my rental modem in which I did. Then rogers tells me I have to still pay for rental as part of my agreement. I yelled at them and had them bring up my recent history and said you guys told me to buy it. Long story short after 3-4 days of back and forth I was set to go with my purchased hitron.

I would buy the modem but every couple of years they change their packages that requires switch of modems as well.

I had bought a Motorola one that I could no longer use because they limited bandwidth at 80Gb or something. So rented the black and red circle one.
That modem was replaced with a new one because it stopped working a few months ago.
Now they say that modem won't support the fibre hybrid package, so I had to get a new one.

So rental modem had been working out for me.
3 different modems in last few years.

Yea I hear ya. But at 99$ you just have to use it for 10 months to pay it off.

but you shouldn't be paying for the rental anyway. bitch just a little and you should get it free.
I want to buy my modem cuz all the ones they supply are uber shitty. I've always hated this modem/router gateway nonsense.

Wayne, can you turn this thing in to "just" a modem? As in turn off everything??

Yeah, you can put it in 'Bridged' mode with ease.

Yes, the username and password are on the modem itself. Just go in and turn off the gateway function

So Currently I have 50%off iNet and 30%off TV.

They offered me 55% off iNet and tv goes to full pop.
Plus internet and tv prices are up from what I was paying before.

I told them to cancel both. I'll wait for the winback call and likely keep the tv cuz my dad needs it. But the internet is done with them.
I'd rather switch to teksavvy, buy a decent dumb modem and enjoy more stable pricing rather than this game of cat and mouse with effing Rogers.
Maybe I'll switch to Bell for TV. I might call them tmr.

^^ Yeah, I had 50% off internet and 30% off cable, best I could negotiate with winback was 30% off both with free modem rental, and a free nextbox pvr.

Some people have still been getting 50% off internet, but I had it for the last two years, so I suspect they were hesitant to offer it again to me.

How does the "winback" work?
Do you notify them a month ish before?
Or cancel it and not have the service until they call you?

Fuck, these idiots messed it up again.
When I switched to the new plan, it went up $30.
The price shouldn't have changed.
After two 45 min calls later, they resolved it.
Well, that's what they said at least. Gotta look at the next bill.

same i had the 50/30 disc for the last two yrs aswell.
I own my pvr's so I don't need that and I'm pretty sure i'll be switching the internet either way. Fuck this nonsense. Rogers regular prices are astronomical!
I also like the fact that Teksavvy as unltd bandwidth between 2am and 8am. I can do all my major torrenting during that time. And they have quite a few good modem options available too vs. Rogers.

This is what happens:
1) you call and say "I want to Cancel"
2) they send you to "retentions" dept (which used to be really good)
3) retentions offers you a bogus deal, you again say "I want to cancel"
3a) in my case I also say this "I wish I could be there when you tell your boss that you lost a customer that has been with Rogers for 40yrs" There is always dead silence after that sentence is said (its my fathers account actually).
4) a different Rogers dept. will call you up sometime before your official cancellation date and offer you something better than the bogus offer given by retentions in step 3. Last yr they called me back then next day.

Last yr they offered me a better deal than the original bogus retentions offer which I declined again. Then they finally gave me back the 50/30 deal so I stayed. My first offer from retentions last yr was 20%off internet and 15%off tv. I told the guy that was a slap in the face!

So, I caved again.
Rogers called me back today and gave me the same 50%/30%. I went with the Fibre60.
I wanted to change but @ $47.99 for the fibre60 I have nothing to complain about.
I guess next yr I'll switch, lol.
