I made it till just past two months and gave in. Saw some minor results but had had enough of feeling sluggish, strength down etc.

back to normal eating and been increasing some cardio on top of regular routine. just keep moving for a bit more time. I like it better this way.

Too simple, needs more ketone monitoring and pastry intake.

You can maintain a lot of strength while in a deficit... Most ice pulled was 440 @ around 210-215...? I pulled 335x10 on Monday which puts my theoretical max right around 440 and I'm at 189lbs now...

Not all of my lifts have maintained as my pressing strength has fallen off a bit but dud manage 235x9 on the bench the other day...

I don't understand how you think youre going to lose so much mass

A few years back (shit, like 2005-6) I was my strongest ever and weighed 240, in that pic of me ripped to shit and jacked as fuck with the backwards hat on? I cut to 207 for that pic.

I lost like idk 25 pounds of my bench?

I wouldn't have an issue of you documenting your progress here or in your blog or where ever you feel comfortable...

I would need the following from you...

-starting pics
-weekly update pics
-macro spreadsheet and be honest about what you consumed (i don't doubt you would be, as I've seen you post about blow ups etc)
-daily weigh ins are reported weekly, showing average weekly weigh in as well...

I can provide template for spreadsheet

-training would continue on the 531, but i'd need to know what you are doing for accessory work and how many days you can train... typically it's a 4 day training routine
-cardio would be determined, but would need to know what you are doing currently... prefer to see you do cardio by caloric burn, so if you have an HRM, that'd be ideal, but we can do it by time as well... (Issue comes in where some days you might not be getting the same burn because perceived effort is not the same)...

I think that about covers it...

Would definitely like to see your macro breakdowns over the next 2 weeks so I can get an idea of what your intake is doing to your weight before starting...

Fair enough. will report back in 2 weeks. with the macro stuff, interested to see what happens as well.

- pics 2 weeks, do you want me to include anything specific from this week or will the pics I posted on sunday suffice http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zjS_2pKt5kY/UhMH4ctTFsI/AAAAAAAAKEs/yoL-AgB0uOQ/s640/week11.png

-you're friends with me on mfp so you see everything I eat already but I can fill out a separate spreadsheet as well.

- for the accessory work I really just go by feel and energy levels. Like if I did bench, and felt like hitting upper chest, i'd do some cable flies, incline chese flies, smith bench and if I still felt like I had gas left something else. Nothing but the primary lift to failure, all managable sets. It's all written down anyway.

- I use endomondo to track workouts with the HRM and can build workout programs for intervals, and heart rate zones, etc. So that's not a problem.

fair enough. I will blog it for your entertainment csi.

Those pics would suffice, but would prefer full body going forward (need to see legs too)... I'll want pics that first Sunday as "starters"...

And I likely won't have you doing much if ANY HIIT to start... I prefer MISS... HR in the 145-155 range for cardio...

Dumb question vaguely off-topic:

What exactly is the reason/mechanics behind lower weight meaning lower strength? Is it because of loss of muscle mass?

Theoretically, if one kept 95% of muscle mass while losing a decent amount of weight, would that person only lose 5% strength (let's say 5% of bench).

I never understood the actual correlation.

There is a small correlation

Mainly it comes down to fuel though

Lost muscle mass in waynes case is going to be minimal

Mainly because he doesnt have as much as he thinks he does

He certainly has good muscle for his frame, he does compound lifts and thats good. He just doesnt have what he thinks he has under the thick fat layer

Not losing some lean mass in a sustained deficit is almost inevitable, unless you're on drugs...

But yeah fuel is the other reason... You might be able to lift the same amount of weight, but your volume would likely suffer...

for bigger guys getting skinny it's mainly your leverages changing. Guys with big guts for example have huge squats and deads because they can push off of their gut, and wrapping a belt around that exerts more force, get rid of the gut and you kind of lose what you've focused your technique on.

So you pretty much have to relearn your leverages and your body once building back up. Not too sure how that relates to benching, but full body definitely.

*ALMOST* inevitable. I didn't lose any strength/volume when I did UD 2.0. I kept a spreadsheet and logs. I didn't GAIN any strength, but I didn't lose any, either. And that was with a VERY extreme weight drop in a very short amount of time.

I think you're going to do Diezel's routine, but here's my suggestion.

Training:

Continue on 5/3/1, reset as directed by protocols when you stall out.
Train 4 days a week, following Boring But Big protocol, 15-20 reps on accessory lifts MAX. Preferably 15.

Cardio after weights, LISS or MISS, 30 minutes.

One day a week, do this cardio routine:

5 minute warmup
5 minutes HIIT, 15 seconds on, 45 seconds off, balls to the wall.
Rest 5 minutes. Walk, sit, whatever.
20-40 minutes MISS.
5-10 minutes HIIT, 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off, 80-90% max HR.

Only do this one day a week, and do it on a day you didn't lift, and when you have the longest break between lifting sessions. This would be Saturday, assuming you are lifting M/T/Th/F.

Nutrition:

1800 cals MAX

90g carbs, 40g fat (MAX), 270g protein. As far as percentages, that works out to 60% protein/20% carbs/20% fat. Do that for 13 days, then you get ONE DAY of carb-reloading, but fat MUST be kept to a minimum. No donuts. No pork rinds. Pasta, bagels, pretzels, pancakes, cereals are your friends. Fruit is fine, but go easy on the candy. Not really worried about sucrose and fructose vs glucose here. Main thing is to keep the fat low. 50g max.

Take a multivitamin and 6 fish oil pills every day. Do an EC stack if you want. No caffeine on carb load days, as it inhibits uptake of carbs to muscles.

Keys were high protein intake, still training heavy and in reality it was a short period of time... How much weight was lost in how much time again...?

For sure protein intake was key throughout the week, and the carbload letting me train heavy was money.

22 lbs in 7 weeks.

Adding extra quote tags just in case. I'll definitely try out your cardio routine on one of my rest days or something. Sounds fucking miserable. But I'll probably hold off on the peeled dieting and give Diezel his shot at an I told you so.
