I can do it, but it's my current limit. My bench has been stalled for quite a while and maybe diminished a touch over the last year. I've been resetting on the 5-3-1 every time I stall and I typically stall at the same point. My squat/deads have went up in the same time. I just don't want to up my eating or cut down on cardio since I put on weight pretty easily.

I've also dropped a few more pounds and still have a torn labrum. It doesn't seem to affect me much, but some workouts I can feel it.

Most I ever threw up actually maxing was 330, but I was 40 pounds heavier than I am now. I've done 295x5 about 10 years ago as a beefcake.

Ya im not at a serious gym either really(hey it wwas free so Im not complaining) but ive seen enough bros there and 3 plates just isnt something I see much of.

I havent pushed hard enough or long enough to get my bench to those levels.
I find joints/tendons lag quite a bit for me(well I guess anyone) that once I start to load up for me I always get some tendons saying "psst hey dont snap your shit up son". Ive only repped up at 245 but that was a while back.

spotter is key though. You really cant push it without one.
Ive had some bursitis bothering me in the last while so I knocked back any serious benching. such a nuisance

It fucking pisses me off.

its such a nag. It bothers me when I sleep too. I have to sleep on that side at some point(I roll around like an alligator) , so that does me no favours.

I added some extra back exercises in which helped a lot but it still pops up a bit every week(generally after chest).

I can't really go heavy on any type of presses. I need to get it checked out.

I get a reminder of it every time I brush my teeth. That raising motion gives me a little pain daily. I'm almost sure I'm going to need to get it scoped.

Get a spotter and start upping the weight, if u can do 225 ur not far off 250 then 275 etc

yea i dont have a spotter regular enough on chest days. thats pretty much been my problem.
Currently on 225x5 doing them by myself. With a spot and a good lifting day i could probably throw up 250 for 1.
But i am also just coming back from a 3 week hiatus from having exercise headaches. 300 is my goal for the end of winter.

Of course not, it's only 90 percent of my training max anyway.

That's stupid, two plates would fall off of one side due to the imbalance. Or were you implying that I'm capable of benching 315lbs? That's funny. I never claimed to be good at bench, best I've ever done was 245 for 3 reps and 2 of them were slightly spotted.

A simple strength routine is always going to be halted when the technique is not there. I personally think you would be better off seeing if you had any olympic lifting/power lifting coaches in your area that you could train under. You'll see your numbers fly through the roof. Especially with their training splits.

Debatable, I am still looking into carb back loading at this time but until then I'm just going to focus on some macro's set by iifym 160p/270c/67-80f

I'm not going to jump on the UD2.0 wagon as it's fairly similar to carbnite imo and I personally feel carb cycling works to a certain extent but also builds up some wicked cravings. Plus Drew doesn't have to deal with stupid people or sitting in traffic for hours. I don't see that path working well for me!

I am open to suggestions, but right now just trying to detox and eliminate processed shit for a bit, or the huge abundance I was eating. For a week or 2.

Wayne, I mentioned a dietitian, trainer, nutritionist previously because it could be beneficial.

You asked why it would be needed?

You also previously stated that maybe fitness/dieting wasn't your thing. Well...it is their thing. Maybe having a professional outline a plan would sink in?

Just a thought.

Nothing wrong w/ seeking help for specific lifts. One of my close friends is a full time trainer. I've gone to him several times for dieting/workout advice, tips, etc. He knows his shit and makes bank.

exactly, I had a professional nutritionist before.

It's fucking expensive. Would rather just use all of the information out there on the net, most of them use software that plugs in numbers anyway it's not like they dig deep down into some treasure chest to pull out shining armor tailored to you.

I agree completely. Unless you are obese and/or fucked up health wise, I don't see the need. Some people just respond to professionals telling them what to do.

I know an older guy who is healthy and in great shape and he pays out the ass for a nutritionist. I also believe he sees a personal trainer. Fuck all that IMO...but it works for him.

you're less likely to fuck off if you're spending 300 dollars a month or 150 dollars an hour for someone elses time. I don't have money like that to guilt my ass into a bathing suit.

Diet is simple, I've proven that before losing 30lbs in 2 months. I was trying a different approach not to lose strength in the process. It's not that I don't listen, it's that you guys don't know how to read.

But I'm still fat, blah blah blah.

We'll see what happens.

To me, this is a fluff statement.

Let's be real, you tried a different approach so you could still eat like a fat kid and you flew off the handle.

Maybe..try listening? Don't you think it's time to man up?

alright then csi experts you throw a meal plan together these are my stats. I'll give each of you 3 months you can even throw together my training routine and I'll follow it. 90 days you guys can all vote on who's to follow and I'll do it, if it produces results I'll continue to follow it. If it doesn't you'll agree to shut the fuck up?

Time for you guys to man up.

5'8"
193lbs
18% bodyfat

currently doing 5/3/1

training maxes are
deadlift 451
back squat 330
bench press 245
press 170
power clean 245

Goal, maintain muscle mass with cut, no poverty macros or stupid 1300 cal deficits or 24-48 hour fasting. Most I'll agree to fast is 14 hours at that.

You can do atkins style or low fat style doesn't matter.

Set it, I'll document it day in day out and post training logs and any other information you require.

Go.

LOL at us to man up.

All I do is shoot for 1800-2000 calories, 160-180 grams of protein, eat good quality foods and do cardio in addition to weights.

No fucks given about carbs/fats/ketosis/fasting. I figure eating good foods with good fats as secondary to my protein intake will take care of the rest of the macros and micros.

I manned up 2 years ago and reached my goal.

I honestly don't think you have the ability to strictly follow anything.

Whatever is suggested will surely limit you calories and shit food intake. Can you control that? All signs point to no.

I appreciate your honesty. You must've missed where I cut out dairy, and processed foods, etc for 2 months. If it didn't have a face or wasn't a plant I didn't eat it.

No sugars or sweetners and even cut out caffeine.

My advice aside/in addition from what was posted above:

Cardio - 150 minutes a week to start. Be it 30 minute runs, 60 minute bikes, just add some.

Weights - 4 days per week. I'd simply do a full 5-3-1 with accessory lifts.

Food - Eggs, lean meat, potatoes, rice, vegetables, whole grain bread, milk, yogurt, fruit and protein powder. This is almost all I eat save for some sauces/spreads.

Pick your protein, add vegetables and then fill with side dish to get to your caloric limit. So a 180 gram chicken breast would be 200 calories, then say 100 calories of veggies, so your potatoes or rice would be 200 calories. Desert for me is cherries, strawberries or blueberries.

In this case I'd have 3x500 calorie meals with 1-2 protein powder shakes.

please see the post above where I said nut up or shut up. I've already added in 30 minute cardio sessions, 400cal goal on stair machine in intervals before weight training.

Sarcasm must have been missed.

You comments just shows how temporary everything you do really is.

Cool if sarcasm is all you have to add at this point then you can go back to diesels thread or arts thread and admire them for how strong they look. or formulate your posts when you have tony little spotting you on the bench.

Did IF, it's seriously not hard at all. However macro's were not complacent, ended up maintaining.

And Art, 2300 is a defecit if I'm burning 1300 calories a night. Anything lower is stupid, but again put something together I'll follow it and you'll either sink or swim as the dietician here.

You didn't do it correctly and run at a deficit. Another fail.

My previous comment was in regards to what you were actually eating. Eat like shit, get shit results. It's simple. You'll have to just drive past your favorite cupcake shop.

honestly, just live a healthy lifestyle and don't pig out. ride the bike, hit the bag, lift the weights. eat sensible and enjoy yourself.

i don't expect that you'll look like art or diesel in 6 weeks, but you'll be a hell of a lot happier than you are right now. you seem frustrated that you're not at their level. do shit that you enjoy (if that's crossfit then so be it) and quit looking for affirmation from a bunch of clowns on the internet.

pretty straight forward. Not sure why there is some caveat of US having to man up when 137 is the one with a 42DD chest ;\)

just start doing shit like above. theres no eye of newt secret sauce recipe. Its just consistently working out and keeping things in check. have the odd pig out day if you need it(within reason) and you will lose. yes its slow.
you argue about dont want to fast or crash diet. No need...but on the other hand a 500 yrs plan to lose weight wont help you either.

the basics are there. And they take the slow time you are looking for. You may lose some strength on a deficit. everyone is different and will react differently.

but while trying to burn more fat so what if you lose some strength? Are you competing? is it putting food on the table for you?
no thats right so who cares if your deads drop to 350 or something. boo hoo.
Wont look as badass in the gym? who gives a flying fuck. No one cares there either way.

*you are so against fasting/"extreme" diets. Ok cool...but on the opposite end of the spectrum you are cool with binge eating and shovelling massive amts of carbs down your gullet every week. dafuq*

I don't know about others, but results from IF were gradual for me.

I was actually frustrated at first. It took around 6-7 weeks for me to notice the fat loss, by 3 months and beyond I was feeling/looking lean as fuck.

My friend was the same way, he was carrying a lot more fat (way more than Wayne) so it was even slower, but as time passed his results were significant.
