Duc, I've heard good things about image quality on the new 50, hope the build quality improved as well. Let us know your impressions.

just picked up the new canon nifty 50mm f1.8 STM lens. can't wait to shoot with it
NICE! With the STM motor it should be worlds better.

My only complaint about the II was how loud the motor was and how terrible AF was. I tried to destroy that lens during use and it kept on working...
I want to check out the STM version just to see if it is better. I did love the size of the 50ii.

Love that mushroom pic!
snapped this one of my daughter yesterday. Wish it came out sharper, but I still love it.

This aggressive little hummingbird is the guard of the hummingbird feeder, he perches nearby and runs off any others that get near it.

Duc, I'm having a hard time finding the focal point in that pic. Everything seems 'fuzzy'. Did you highpass the entire pic by chance?

Saw a cool bike in San Antonio. Like the WWII homage on the tank.

Thanks! There's actually 5 missions down that way. The Alamo, Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada. There's an 8-mile trail that connects all 4. It's a concrete walking path that follows the river. We tried to do the walk but in 100+ degree heat we don't get very far, so I'd suggest doing it on a cooler day. It's worth the trip, the buildings are really cool.

no high pass
the fourth pin is the focal point. was shooting with the 50mm at f1.8
That's a razor thin DOF at that range.

Duc for video, your shutter speed should be 2x the framerate of the finished video. So if you're going to produce a 24fps video, your should be 1/50 (since 1/48) is not an option on dslrs. From there, use ISO and aperture to get a correct exposure. This will give the smoothest cinematic look to the video.
