ROFL I didnt know you had no shorts!!!
Who rides a road bike without shorts??? That's crazy talk! \:D

Edit: HAHAHA microfiber cloths. Oh mannn

lol i did the same thing when i first got my bike under a pair of compression shorts ditched that after 1km. I think i rode my first 100km w/o bike shorts just compression under pair of shorts. Did a 50km like that and i think i must of rode the last 10-15 coasting half the time on my hamstring

Vas go to Mec if you don't find anything at winners.

Thanks guys for the riding tips i only go once on the weekends which would explain my lack of a good avg speed (last check around 19-20ish). I notice i'm stronger each ride but obviously i need to still ride more.

If you can locate a set of pedals, you can borrow it.
Size 54 Caad9. It's a 54.5 top tube...honestly, it's big for me at 5'9.
It's got a 110mm stem on there right now, and I can throw a 120 or even 130 on there.

CAVEAT - I'm a homo and I converted that thing also to single speed (but it can coast at least). So you'll have to kick Wayne's ass using only 1 gear \:\)
LET THE LEGS DO THE TALKING MAN!!!!!!

what can I say. Ive done many common things out there.

though I dont see anything Ive said as being expert opinion. More like some basic principles of cycling(and/or sports training) which should be understood by anyone who has done it at some point. You mad too?

Cycling was never a main sport for me. It was something secondary to some triathalons I did and later cycling on its own. Ive done some crit rides etc in the past and road with some groups. If that makes me an expert in your eyes...ok. I know where I stand and how I measure up to real riders. (ie: Im not one of those). I sold my road bike yrs ago and havent set foot on one since then.

but Id still wreck Wayne \:o

Bahahahaha! I am loving the elitism from a man who no longer has a bicycle \:D
I'm by no means standing up for my own retarded choice of riding 1 gear bikes...but really, what's the big deal? I now ride for fitness, and you aren't going to get a better challenge on a road bike than sticking with a single gear.

And it is not *that slow* either...avg'd 36kph on the Toronto Island multisport race in 40 deg heat a few years back...on a tinyyyyyy gear. No need for carbon rocket ships when you got the legs, right? riiiiiiight? \:D \:D \:D \:D

what is the purpose of a single speed? aside from less parts breaking, i'm learning actually quiet a bit from the thread boys.

no argument from me. Why do you think I give wayne such a hard time? such emphasis on gear when it doesnt mean squat for most weekend warriors. Its just another purchase to show off.

I had a mid to late 80's futural 787 foreverrrrr(among others). did just fine. Sold it when shit needed replacing far to frequently, to some hipster who had plans to make it a fixie. heh

Solo? No stops? At least 30 I'd say.
Most guys who ride the donut can hold 35+ on their on for long durations...and for some odd reason, many guys hail donut as being a hard group ride. The fact of the matter is that it isn't. A lot of local racers are there, yes. But compared to a real race, it's a walk in the park (seriously!!!).

If you want to check speeds, maybe look at some triathlons...sprint triathlons are 30 to 40km in length for the bike leg, and you can see what speeds those guys go. Just find a course that's somewhat similar to what you aim to ride. Granted, they're aero...so find the numbers further down the list \:\) There are animals out there who avg 40+.

And arent they maaaaad noodly? I had a steel Lemond and that was noodly enough for me. These Vitus things were supposed to be whacky flexible!
