I was wondering who had a ITR motor swap in there Si. I was just wondering alittle bit about it. If you liked it or had dislikes about it. Maybe your mods and times. I am seriously thinking about doing this swap, just making sure this would be a good decision. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Daniel

I believe i am just going to have to do it. I was looking for some numbers that way i could decide if i wanted to go turbo instead ( greddy kit). I was just looking for the most reliable HP gain, i drive mine everyday.

Well in my opinion, a turbo kit should be much cheaper than a itr swap unless your getting a hook up.

its not worth doing, you will only be a little bit faster, i know someone with a itr ek coupe and he runs mid 14s, si's run mid 15s just get a turbo, and build it for boost. its alot more fun that way, if you insists on getting an itr, pm mouse_si on this forum he has one.

I swapped in a B18C(97 JDM Teg-R) in mine last summer.
Likes:
More power than the B16A2
Got to know my car a little better
LSD
Higher Revs
Lower miles

Dislikes:
II have to swap my Passenger side inner CV Joint, it is knocking

Issues/Workarounds:
Got a Plug-N-Play wiring harness for ECU
Reused 3 my old B16A2 mounts
Had to widen my Random-Tech Cat to fit the 2.5 collector from the header
Make sure you tag/mark your electrical connections to all your sensors.. I didn;t and had thought they would only plug into one place. Boy was I wrong.

That's all I can think of for now. I did take some pics though. I could email them or post them, but I would have to resize them cause they are all about 800K's apiece.

I have got the swap done in mine. it pulls a lot harder than a lightly modified Si. Uberpollo had the car before me and he had a supercharged b16 in it and then swaped the ITR in. I think its a good strong motor and up the comp and some cams....its a beast. (worth it thought...)

a standard greddy turbo can be had for about 2500 with intercooler.

A complete b18c5 swap is going to be about 5k shipped.

why even bother when he can just buy a brand new longblock and all of the other parts necessary for the swap just under 2500 and can save the money on the itr tranny since its the same as the si tranny and dump in a quaife lsd instead of a shitty stock itr lsd.

the jdm itr final drive tranny is all hype and the loss of fuel efficiency isnt even worth having it unless you like to brag about how thick your pocketbooks are.

IMO if I had the money I would build a fully blueprinted b16 turbocharged engine with a nice small dual ball bearing turbo, mild intercooler set up, no huge front mount with about 300 hp on tap and a smooth as glass power curve. I would be a happy camper. To make power with a b16 is easy turbocharged, but to have managable streetable power is a bit harder to obtain.

*back from the dead*

I'm considering to get a Type R swap for my Si, but as far as passing emissions, would there any problems? I'm from CA so smogging and stuff are going to be a pain in the ass. And since the swap doesnt contain the VIN number on the tranny, is it possible to place the vin number on the swap just to avoid trouble when cops pulls me over? And last but not least, is a BAR sticker really necessary???

i was interested in this swap too ...
but do u need new motor mounts/ axles/ ecu etc ?
i drive an em1 btw ...
i know i can use the b16 tranny ...

if its just the longblock i need, i think im gonna have this done soon

also, isnt it bad to run boost w/o strengthening the internals ?
unless u plan to run like ... only 5 lbs of boost ... ?

As long as you get a 00 or 01(or 99 if you have a 99si) USDM ITR motor you will be legally fine. After you get it swapped take your car to a smog ref and have them ref your car and you will be LEGAL

Remember, motor has to be the same year or newer to be swapped and refd legal in CA. So....im not haha

First off, I would just get the short block and put the b16 head on instead and save a bit of money...

You should only need a new rear mount for the b18. You would probably want to get a chipped p28 or something anyway and get you car tuned at the same time as the stock b16 would run you a bit lean.

If you are going to run boost I would not be using a b18c5 motor but rather a b18c1 or keep your b16. Stock motors are good up until around 350whp...which is around 12 or so psi.

Thanks man, but do you have to get a BAR Sticker in order for the swap to be legit? I was thinking of swapping the VIN number from the stock si and place it on the swap.

definately worth doing. that's exactly what i have, only its a b18c, the jdm one. very fun car, especially paired up with my teins. nothing is better than going all motor. such a good motor to start your modding or just leave it stock like me. well almost stock. lol either way it is lots of fun

Back from the dead again

Well I finally got the USDM B18C5 Motor, the only thing I'm really concerned about is the ECU. I was told that you cannot use the USDM ITR P73 Ecu cause of the immobilizer. Is there any other way around in order to use the original usdm type r ecu?

I say get yourself a B18 block build it up with internals, piece a turbo kit together, slap on your B16A2 head, get a good engine management system and a good tune and you will be good to go!!!!!! cost can be about the same as a ITR motor swap but you will have more hp and more fun doing it!!!!!!!

[color:#FF0000][/color] Yo gee; if you have a B16A2 in your car, just swap the cams for CTR cams, and get retainers for the head. You'll probably be faster than the actual ITR...Look into it so you can put the extra money somewhere else. Or you could just get a B20B Long block. Hella tourque from my point of view. You save alot of money too. B20 bottom with a B16 head...Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
