Ideas for camera?

I have a Canon 40D, and it's been a great camera for me.
However, I'd like to play with video a bit. Having a dedicated video camera is a bit of an overkill for me. I have thought about selling my 40D (for a few bucks ) and getting another Canon that can do video. Stills are my main focus, but video is an interest. I don't have much experience with it.
Any ideas? I don't mind staying with a crop body, as my 40D is crop. Price is a consideration.

If you're going to dabble in video, make sure to get a body that is more current. It's amazing how much the "technology" has changed for the video aspect since the D90 came out (Nikon speaking).
The difference between my mom's D90, my D300s and my D600 is like night, day, and a bright fucking day.
Also, spend the money for an external mic. The built-in one might as well be from a GoPro.

Interesting. Never thought to look at monoprice for something like this. I see theres is a powered mic (and is quite large compared to the Nikon one)...wonder why that is.

My answer is in there. I've had a T2i, 7D, and 5d2. Still have the 7D (use it the most) and the 5d2 has been confiscated by my gf, but a happy gmurder is a happy me so I'm not complaining (at least out loud).
To me the difference between recommending the two would be 7D for sports/action mostly and the 5d2 for portraits/landscape/etc... but both are great and both can do the other fairly well. The 7D wins for speed and autofocus. The 5d2 wins at low light, dof, artistic stuff. I've got zero interest in video so I'm out on that conversation.

60D is a downgrade from the 40D imho. I have a 60D and use my Rebel T2i more often. The poor build quality and flappy screen bug me to death.
Hard to recommend without a budget, but if I had to pick one moderately priced Canon body, it would be the 5DII.
