Went to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware. Wasn't too much wildlife out. Was hoping to catch a flock of snow geese, but we only saw a small flock flying out on our way in. Had some fun with the clouds and this dead tree instead.
6D, 24-105L, Big Lee 10-stop ND filter, 90 second exposure, f/22, iso 50.

That pic looks like you snapped it while walking down the driveway on a iPhone. Were you trying to go for a comparison between old/new?

just sucks that there were no drive shafts installed. pushing the 40 back up the hill would've been hell since it's on 40s
honestly hated the picture after editing it

I had such high hopes for this shot...If I had it to do over again I'd go past the poles at the bottom and get those out of the frame and shoot it with my 6D instead of my 70D so it wouldn't be such a noisey mess...

sometimes i get that effect in my photos and sometimes i spend all the time in the world trying to achieve that
Thanks man, can you be a bit more specific about what you like and maybe I can try to help explain what causes the look? These were pretty simple, just shot with a polarizer in natural light, no real trickery.

you can try just lifting the lower left point of a curve up a little and experiment with that. I'll sometimes make an S curve but lift the dark side up a little. I'm still fighting the super bright yellows and greens I'm not a fan of, so this doesn't always work, but sort of.
I'd say you're after the muted colors and tonality right?

yes
The color work I'm doing is pretty simple, biggest thing I can suggest is using curves layers in "luminosity" blend mode, not "normal." Because curves (and all other contrast adjustment layers) will affect your color and make everything over saturated. I use multiple selective color layers and hue/saturation layers to control each color independently. These for example, I removed a lot of red and yellow for the sand, and controlled the color on the truck separately. I also use gradient map layers and a plugin called Knoll Light Factory for my final "color looks." I added some magenta at the end on these as well, just because fuck it. Thought it looked cool?

I've got to look into gradient maps. That's not the first time I've seen that mentioned lately. Everything else I've been using a lot of, albeit in Aperture, and now in Capture One. I think I'm switching to that full time. v8 seems pretty stable for me, super similar to Aperture. Just need to get a good grasp on the file storage nomenclature.
