Nice job man.

I got up and headed down to the bay and swam 1.1 miles. Felt pretty good having not got in the water for 2 months.

Then I got home and decided to do a short ride. 21 miles at 18.9 mph. All that after running 10.5 last night. Good training weekend.

6.4 at an 8:30 pace. Calves kind of tight, but it felt good to get out there.

3miles/25mins

fucking cold air beat my ass even with leggings on

the weather keeps up like this....i'm really going to reconsider running outside. i know that i said this a few weeks ago but man...yesterday that cold air snuck up on me and said "you aren't ready for me yet"

3.7 miles. 41 minutes.

Flooding is awesome. My whole trail was intermittently flooded out. it was an adventure. Unfortunately on that 5.x miler I did last week I strained my IT band. Started running today and it felt like someone was running through it with a serrated knife blade.

I pushed through, and i fucking shouldn't have. went out the trail, up that dirt trail from last week, and down the highway instead of back on the trail. Right now, ANY weight on my leg and i go weak in the knee and want to collapse. Can't walk for shit, and it's about about a 7/10 on the pain scale. I'm not cryin' but it's close. lol.

1: Short of hydrocodone, how do I make the pain stop?
2: How can i strengthen that band to prevent this happening again?
3: I think i fucked myself for running for probably a week or more. This started hurting last Thursday and wasn't getting better. This SUCKS.

Sometimes reasons aren't just excuses. Discretion would have been the better part of valor. Lesson learned. *grumble*

So I timed myself for one mile today to see where I'm at.

I got a 9:15.

It isn't great but atleast it's something.

There are some local 5k's in February and March where I live.

I'd like to accomplish it in 30 minutes or better.

Ran 8.5 miles this morning in 1:11...in a downpour. I felt like a wolf chasing down his prey out on the great plains. It was a great freaking run.

Finally broke into the 7 minute mile range. 5 miles in 39:30 = 7:54 pace. And that was in a downpour an hour after a pretty big dinner.

I'm slacking, but been stupid busy at work due to a huge case.

On Sunday I rode my road bike 15ish miles on the trainer doing a 2x20 set, and cooled down with 7ish miles on the rollers.

Ran 3 miles on the treadmill yesterday.

As much as I hate indoor riding and running, it can be really productive. Especially the bike - there is no coasting and no interruption of intervals by cars, etc. I need another week or so to get myself in the indoor riding mindset though.

I just realized that after tonights run, I'm at 90.5 miles for the month. I'm determined to hit 100, so I guess I'm doing 10 tomorrow night. \:D

yeah i have to hit pavement soon too

fucked around on friday and saturday and didnt capitalize on the 50/60 degree weather outside(we had light rain showers thus the warming of temps from the 20s/30s)

it's been treadmill running since friday and the last time i ran before that was about two/three weeks ago

I'm doing 3.1 miles 3 times a week, trying to get my time down to 30 minutes or less for my 1st 5k in February.

Jogged it in 33:45 last time while walking twice for a total of 1 lap out of 12.

I'll be running today and I'll try to cut my walk down to one time.

i stretch after i get done with my runs

only reason i did a 4am this morning was because my BIL wants us to come up to his house around 1 today to celebrate christmas(yes....i know we are behind schedule) and i KNOW i won't feel like doing it when we get back home later on tonight.

plus i had to come into the office at 8am....sooo 4.40am this morning felt like a nice enough time to do it.

by the time i made it to 6miles, i felt as though i could push it out to atleast 9 before my legs would give out.

next week, my run schedule is 4/4/7.

mrbeefhead, i have to pm you later for clarification on my marathon training instructions too

damn son that's good news though on feeling like you had more in you after 6. Next time step up the intensity.

and if you are planning to run a marathon you definitely need to be running 4x a week. But sure - PM away.

I haven't run a marathon yet, so I might not have the answers, but I have done 6 (or is it 7?) half marathons so I know my way around a training schedule

oh nice - if your long run is already 7miles then you are in great shape - you could probably bust out 13 without a problem right now if you really tried.

shoot me your schedule, or just post it in a new thread - there are a lot of runners in here so you'd get a lot of feedback

Been working hard the last few days:

Monday: 8 miles at 8:26 pace
Today: 4 miles at 9:00 pace (this one hurt because I did it about 12 hours after the 8 miler the night before...\
but tonight I finally got back in the pool and did 1500 yards at a 1:55/100 pace. felt really good and my legs really needed the therapy.

My schedule the next few weeks/months is filling out:

Jan 22: Cougar sprint Tri in San Diego
Feb 12th: Tour De Palm Springs 100 mile ride
March 13th: Sham Rock'n Half marathon in Sacramento. Goal here is to go sub 1:50.

Then in June it's Ironman CdA.

Getting back into the swing of things. 3.5 miles over the weekend that felt like shit. 4 miles yesterday that felt a lot better (although I've been sick and started hacking when I got home). Will ride my bike on the rollers tonight.

Gone sign up for our local St. Patty's Day 5 mile run and try to shoot for sub 42 minutes.

Shitty diet and far too little exercise, despite the fact that I'm set up to easily ride my bike at home.

Ordered a Roku box for the TV in the room where I ride my bike, so getting Netflix up there should help me pass the time.

Now I have to fix my fucking diet again.

Did a fairly easy 7 miles at an 8:34 pace. After yesterdays crappy 4 miles, it felt good to feel good again.

I've decided to make tuesdays and thursdays pool nights. The question will be whether or not I want to run to the pool and back on one or both nights.
