It's like an alternative idea to the see through hood theme. I wanted them to show more of the hood itself on the "bottom" layer but I think it still reads well.

Hmm, didn't even notice the building behind it, heh. I guess I should've stepped right a couple feet. I love the tree, as well...I understand there was a fire in November that closed the place down. Looks like the tree is part of that history.

Man, I have played with the horizon and lens correction stuff for a while on this shot and have since determined that this building is not really square, and that the dead tree is also throwing me off.

Outside of the cypress that I saw when I was at Pebble two years ago, cherry trees are probably my favourite. When I see sakuras, I know spring is here. There aren't that many places in Toronto that you can see them, and since I live in downtown, High Park is probably my best bet. (For those who are not local, High Park is about 10 mins from my house and have a bunch of these cherry trees planted. Nothing like what you guys have in DC tho  )
Problem is, I HATE having random people in my frames, so this picture was my solution. If my eyes were sensitive enough to turn night into day, this is what I would've saw tonight at about 9:30pm. Not one person in my frame, I didn't have to worry about kids running around knocking over my camera; it was just me, my camera, my flashlight and my timer. Being alone for that 8 mins never felt so great.
Next year, I'm gonna try to replicate a shot like this, but in film at a different ASA than the one I shot tonight

this is the deepest open pit mine in the world. for reference, the hole is 2.5 miles in diameter and .75 miles deep.
The scale of this thing...easy to see if you locate the speck of a huge Caterpillar dumptruck off to the left side of the frame. (if I'm seeing things correctly)

It's not comic sans at least! I know, I needed something quick and didn't have a good graphic. I have a different font on my flickr account, but with all the pictures going up, I wanted to make sure I got mine marked.
Helvetica with a drop shadow would have been better.
