kinda hard to do unless you routinely run 7 to 7.30pace.

someone here ran a half with times ranging in the 8-8.45pace times last year

Yeah, I'm not sure I can even do that. Next week I've got a tempo run where I'll try to hold an 8:00/mile pace for 20 minutes. I need to focus more on dropping some poundage which should help some.

Anywhere from 1-3 seconds per mile per pound lost. :D. It's awesome.

It's a nice site. Small tip, they just switched to Bing maps, if you use Chrome you can get the Google maps back by using the GFix extension. It's a one click install and it works seamlessly.

Sweet thanks.. Yea, I didnt even know about the Garmin Connect thing. They shoulda sent me an email or something lol \:D

Gonna try 5 miles again today.. See how it goes.. Im definitely getting faster. Wonder if it's because my endurance is increasing or if it's because Im down to 16lbs from when I started running.. got a better power to weigh ratio now \:D

Tour de Palm Springs 104 mile ride: DONE.
6:04 ride time/17mph average with an extremely crowded course. Had to slow to a crawl alot. Overall a great ride. Bring on the half mary!

104?! Awesome!

I did a ride today... about a FIFTH of what you did and I was hurtin'. Averaged about 17 on the way out, peaked at 23 on the flats... but the ten miles back? I could hardly break 6... 10 miles of headwind and crosswind that brought me to a stop a couple times, just hovering against the wind.

What was the terrain like for your ride? How much was hills? how much wind to fight?

Ran most of the 5 mile St. Patty's Day course yesterday. With temps above 40 finally it was comfortable enough outside and most of the ice had finally melted. A little over a 9:00 minute/mile pace. It wasn't too hard, but given I haven't run a hill for a month or so it wasn't super easy either. Need to get some hill work in over the next month.

Finished the Palm Springs half mary in 1:50:17. Pretty happy with that considering lots of hills and my IT started flaring up. Pretty sure I can go sub 1:45 next month.

ACR: the course had some decent climbs in the first 50 miles, but lots of flat areas that were fast. We averaged 20mph for the areas where we weren't stuck behind crowds. No wind at all, thankfully.

4.8 miles at 8:59/mile. I didn't feel like I had a whole lot of gas left in the tank at the end, but my last .8 miles at 8:40 was the fastest split recorded on my Garmin, so maybe a little something left. Still really want to work my pace solidly into the 8's.

Haha...I have never had any kind of pain like I did after that half. I had no idea it felt so good to use it on other body parts that felt okay already. Using it on my quads felt awesome.

Do EEET. So much better. Foam roller is awesome, even though i've never been able to get my whole ITB w/o shooting off it in pain. I get a good 2/3rds of it though, and have started using the one in the gym when I can't get to mine at home. \:\) About to order an office roller too!

Another 3.x miles down for me today. My running partners at work picked up a lot of speed while I was out with leg issues... since coming back i've been stuck firmly in the high 5mph range, and not gaining back to where I was before the injury. (6.2 avg, peaking at like 6.5/6) Kinda sucks, but I just make sure that I stay out longer/run farther since they pace way ahead of me now.

we east coasters don't have the benefit of that west coast weather. i usually run on it late in the day, early in the morning, or at times when the temps are too cold to run outside

2nd 20 miler of the year today. Felt like nothing. Coached basketball for my kids and then lifted with the wife after the run. Put me @ 140 so far for February, which more than doubled my Feb total last year. Now if they would just stop changing the Boston qualifying times \:\(

lol, Stretch....you were the first person I thought of when I read about the changes. I thought you had got pretty close to qualifying before, so those extra minutes they tacked on must be pissing you off. \:D

23 mile bike ride this morning. Felt pretty good for first time outside this year - about 1:24 or so with some nasty winds for about 2/3 of the ride (and of course helpful wind the other 1/3).

Later in the afternoon went out for a 7 plus mile run with the wife. Still windy and lots of traffic lights we had to stop at downtown. 9:06/mile pace.

Going to do a couple of shorter distance runs this week and then have a 5k this weekend.

No kidding. Figures I finally turn 30 and they make it tougher to qualify. It's crazy that the Lincoln marathon here sold out a few weeks ago and is not until 2 May. They even upped it to 10k participants from 8k last year. Will be fun either way.

On another note we finally got the wife a road bike, and she is excited to start triathlon training after she does the half!

I was a moron, and even though I should have been laying off the running for a bit after that 1/2 irritated my IT, I ran several days last week and 4 days this week. It was slightly bothersome once I went past 3 miles, but it was bearable and it didn't hurt when not running, so I would kind of forget about it. Did 6 miles yesterday and that was a bit too far.
Took today off and just rode the trainer. Going to refrain from running all weekend and see how I feel. I want to be 100% on the 13th so I can crush my current 1/2 PR.
