Crossfit is expensive. $130 a month in Orlando for unlimited access.

EDIT: I just went through some of the crossfit locations near me. $200 a month for unlimited, $175 for unlimited at the other. Heck, they are more than $130 for 3xweek.

Sorry, but I'll stick with my $30 box gym.

You don't need crossfit, you're in pretty good shape and what you're doing is working for you. Eventually however you're going to hit a wall in your training and will be just doing maintenance. And if that's all you care about then by all means don't rock the boat. Eventually however if you yearn for something challenging you may consider it.

justsayin.

Don't get my wrong. I have wanted to join a crossfit gym for a long time, but I cannot swing the monthly payment yet. As soon as I can I will I feel like I'm missing out on the fun!

I can't wait to watch them tomorrow!

We worked on snatch technique for most of the hour today. Now I'm tired

I love the new wod, can't wait to try it. I am pretty good at the snatch, so I'll be happy if I can get more than 60 reps on this one.

I can see that being a huge possibility. The weight jump from lift to lift is really pretty high considering the reps.
I foresee some big shocks to the nervous system too, since I usually see jumps of 10kg on high rep work like that (not sure what other people see)

Oh, also, I was wondering about what other people do for keeping track of workouts. I recall a while ago asking Wayne if he kept one, and he said he didn't but might possibly in the future. Have you started one Wayne?

We have been coached to keep really detailed journals of our workouts. It basically covers everything - warm up, workout, weights, reps, times, any scaling, anything that we want to remember for future workouts regarding a movement, PR's, and additinal comments that might include how I was feeling that day or something the coach said.

I find it extremely helpful and it's amazing to go back and look at some of the changes in my times, weights, etc.

Anyone else do this?

I have an excel spreadsheet that has every single swim, bike, and run workout as well as my races that I've done since I started in May of 2010. Distances and times for each. Its awesome to go back and look at how Ive improved

Beyond the whiteboard is cool if your gym follows mainsite programming and offers it to their members, otherwise paying for it and entering in your own workouts daily, etc, etc, etc I don't think it's worth it.

I just have my photobomb album on facebook with the wods and the results and from time to time I look through it to see how I've jumped up in weights.

my gym doesn't follow main site WODs. we have probably 10-15 people from our gym who are active on the whiteboard. 99% of the time i login and someone has already entered the WOD for that day. if not, then I enter it. it's $3/month...

$3/month is a deal. kind of funny that people who do spend the $100-200/mo on the membership + 5 pairs of workouts shoes have a problem with that

I spend 3 dollars a day to park my car to work out, lol it's bad enough I have to keep getting quarters. tracking my workouts is not that important.

You guys don't need that information when you work out though? An online site does me no good when I am in the gym. That journal goes with me every day I am there.

yeah I used to do the written journal thing, we have a whiteboard in the gym I write my numbers on that.

also I tried doing the snatches today. 60 is wishful thinking. I am able to split snatch 60 efficiently so it's going to be a matter of fatigue.

I saw a lot of split snatches today.

It's been interesting around here with the jumps in weight. Most females hit high forties, one hit 65, and another hit 89 (she's a beast - usually does the men's rx weight during WODs). Men have been around 60-70 here. A lot struggled with that third increase

it's an online database with a twist of social networking. it's more than just recording results. say I did Fran and got the same time, but I weigh 10lb more than I did last time. it will know this, and I'll find out that my power output actually went up 5%. i can also see that my time was in the 70th percentile, or in the 80th percentile for people "like me". so, stuff like that.

I don't really want to share the scare my gym just had due to one member playing a prank, but pretty much unless you're the naked crossfiter, beastmodal domain, and someone else. Don't fuck with HQ.

55 reps for me on 12.2. I was certain I'd get 60, but I'm not strong enough to power snatch 135 so I had to do full squat with them. Doing that first 30 reps with 75 really gasses you!

Ohhh the WOD for this week's open! I'm going to bet this one is going to start weeding people out now pretty fast. We did it this morning as our WOD, and the athletes that are completing in the open did part of it, then worked on some form.

I have been sick for the past two days, so I was only able to push out 5 rounds + 15+12 (scaled) - most everyone was able to throw in at least one more round than me.

It's gonna kick people's asses. I can't wait to watch it \:\)

I just found out from a buddy of mine that there is a CF gym in our area... about 15 miles from me...

He's been going for about 2 weeks now... he said it's $100 a month... I may give it a try and go to a couple classes... he said they have a class at 5am, 9am, and one later in the evening...

there's been 4 people in his group... I don't see myself in this kind of thing, but I may go and give it a shot and see what it's all about... i'm more of a bodybuilder type, vs crossfit, but at least i can see what it's all about...

Good stuff! I am glad to hear that you are going to give it a try!

In all honesty, I think a lot of people underestimate the amount of lifting we do at Crossfit. On a regular week we do lifts, then a quick metcon type of thing at least 3 out of 5 days.

Have fun! Looking forward to hearing what you think!
