Is that Nikon's 135L? Doooo it. The depth compression and subject isolation is nuts.

On my work monitor, the subjects look alittke dark compared to the bright background. Did you do any post processing to balance the light?

I ran it through LR3 really quickly. The boat was covered and sun was coming down on the middle of a lake. I love the smiles / gesture so much, that I don't want mess with it too much and lose the reflection through her hair, etc.
Maybe after it gets cold. I just now got some tips about using Flickr more effectively and am removing my pics from a lot of groups, etc right now.

Look past the "OMG HAX" and the 5 suggestions make sense. /tangent I'll cover later
I might have to order a CPL for that lens since I mainly use it for outdoor adventuring.

I found the hat to be a tiny bit dark on both my computers but on my home computer I absolutely love the shot, especially their faces. My office is bright and I'm running some shitty monitors. My home my computer is a darker room with a wonderful 23" monitor. This is one of my favorite shots from Mike so far.
Mike - was that the boat driver that was on the TV show 'undercover boss'? He looks so familiar.

today's breakfast bread needs a tweak in the recipe. That looks delicious! Lighting info?
Post on here your educated guess of light placement, and we'll go from there

Me too. Excellent work on the pastry.
I talked to this guy for a few minutes and kept trying to catch him casting. Not sure if he caught anything.

Looks like I need to clean the sensor on my T2i already. Maybe just dust from switching lenses all day? I don't have PS yet, but am planning on it later for stuff like this.

Shieeeeeet, your going to make me work for it. I'm pretty new in the lighting department. I'm going to say window light with a reflector for fill. Looks very natural to me.
It's close enough.
Window light as you can see, plus a speedlight on very low setting blasting into a homemade beauty dish on the subject's left. white reflector on camera right for fill.

I just found a memory card (in my camera) from last Sunday. I knew I had taken some decent bird pics.

Mike you've got some amazing shots with the 70-200 F4 going. You doing them all handheld or using a monopod?

Thank you CB and Kevin.
For birding in the back yard I use a tripod for convenience. I can keep focused on an area where birds are jumping in and out of frame, etc. The rest of the time it's hand-held in daylight.
It's a small Manfrotto 7301YB Tripod that I keep maybe 2 feet off the ground for when my cat starts making funny noises.
A few cardinals and sparrows have got comfortable with me walking past them. Very close to getting them to eat out of my hands.
Pic of tripod for reference:
