I sprained my toe at kickboxing again. I am beginning to think that this just isn't the sport for a spaz like me (I wasn't even kicking anything...it was an off landing during cardio conditioning, jumping over a row of bags one-footed)

Why are you kickboxing with a pulled groin?

Because I am hardcore like that!

Seriously though...jogging and jumping, punching and light kneeing don't bother it that much (I don't do any hanging bag kicking right now because it's bothers me). It's more during things like heavy leg press, squats, ab work, etc.
I don't want to put all of my activities on hold...I generally take it easy on things I know will aggravate it.

ie. I did some of the jogging during warm up, but no jogging with knees up, etc. Changed up the abs at the end of the workout to something I knew wouldn't hurt, but still challenged. I can still do planks and regular crunches.

Oh I will! I am off to the clinic tomorrow so hopefully they can help me out. I hate having to take forced breaks

ya it does suck, but for an injury like that...its better to be off now than really fawk it up and be off for a longer period later down the road.

just wondering what do you all runners carry with you when you are out for a run?
iPod? bottle of water? nothing?

I have a fanny pack looking thing with a quick remove water bottle. Essential for longer runs. Wish I could carry more...

I never carried water. I always hydrate well before-hand and then drink about 1L of water about 20 minutes before I exercise. I generally don't need water during my exercise doing that... but I do have to pee.

Thanks man, getting my legs back. Might end up faster this year than last year, I suppose that's the goal.

Today I went 4.2 in 37:20. First mile was 9 minutes flat and the second was 7:20, it was downhill after that. Literally because the elevation changes on the 2nd mile were pretty bad.

that's one of the hardest things for me to do(timing my runs)

as long as you have fun running, that's all that counts for me. it's a big stress reliever(hence me running 4/5miles on my lunch hour at work)

I have a Garmin 301, scored for about $100. Best thing besides an MP3 player you could have for running. I'd love an all in one unit, GPS, heart monitor and MP3 player with bluetooth headphones. They probably make it. Its probably $$$$.

Just did 6km on top of 5km last night. I've been able to do some decent distances lately. 6km tonight was a personal best distance by a long shot.

I've got a couple of running questions, there's a 5k this weekend and I'm not sure if I should run in it.

I do the 5k on the treadmill almost everyday in about 28min with a warm up and cool down. I've ran outside a few times and it seems alittle easier.

Are those times good enough to run in it?? I really have no idea what to expect.

Will running with other people around help push me to keep up??

it was ok because i seemed to not lose my pace while running.

currently i was running 6miles at a 8.24 per mile pace. yesterday i completed the 7miles in the same pace.

next wednesday i will try 8miles because the the section where i will be adding a miles is on the capitol lawn and it's flat and even.

after i got done w the run.....i wasnt good for shit the rest of the day. i just wanted to ball up in a corner and go to sleep.

a proper training schedule will have varying distances...short, shorter, middle , long etc.

not just going up and up...

just asking what is his training schedule and where is he at because i always see him criticizing people's workout plans. sort of like what's his credentials
