You should sign up for the Scott Tinley Tri in San Luis in October. I think I'm going to meet my dad and brothers there and do the off road sprint and they'll do the road half the day before.
I love the mtbikers not that I'm anything other than mid-pack or anything but I lean into it a little extra passing mtbikes also have fun ofc hehe [also a 70.3 will probably proper murder me, I'd be lucky to break 6 hrs I'd guess]

As part of my training plan over the next 3 months to get ready for Javalina, Ivd decided to buckle down and get down to an ideal race weight. For me, I believe that's slightly lighter than my lowest (and fastest) Ironman race weight of 153. I'd really like to see 14x on the scale going into my taper. Weighed in at 168 on Sunday. Fuck.gif Reloaded myfitnesspal on the phone and plan to use it religiously. It's got me at 1300 calories a day, which seems to be pretty doable....for me it mostly involves avoiding late night snacking and making sure I take in some fuel before my runs (which are all at night while kids are out of school) so I don't go crazy pigging out afterwards. I'm swearing off beer and any kind of candy till after the race as well. :iamhomoforusingthis:
I'm working on that myself. Couple weeks ago after a trip back home I was 175. Hitting down to 165 now. Wouldn't mind hitting under 160 but anywhere around 165 will be ok really.
What kind of mileage are you going to do? I will probably cap out with a couple of ~50 mile weeks. I just don't think my body can handle much more than that week in and week out. I'd love to figure out how some people do 35 mile weeks and do 100's, lol.

You really only cap at 18 to 20? For Keys I did numerous marathon distance training runs and an 8 hour overnight 35 miler. Those are obviously what kills me. If I had the time each day I could probably hit 60+ a week, if I wasn't doing one day so high that I need to take the day before and after off pretty much.
I do want to try to do more runs that are for a purpose instead of runs for mileage.

Yeah that's true. I wish I could find more trails around to run. I run on the dumb asphalt all the time. The only close trail is flat and exposed, lol Florida, so it isn't exactly enjoyable anyway.
You CA people are so lucky!

Keep in mind that I race quite a bit. I just did a 33 miler in June, 100k in May, Boston in April, 50k in March and another in February...so that's a pretty good gauge of my fitness this year so far.
Jebus, and you're complaining of a weight issue?

I am actually planning on asking Liza if she thinks trail shoes are necessary. I saw some pictures with some rocks but nothing serious.
I picked this race partly because it isn't 25k feet of vert, lol. Not easily trained in FL.
There is a 46 mile fatass event on September 5th I'm debating on doing. I won't be doing it super hard but figure that's a real good training run with a 13 hour cutoff.

My last 3 pairs of shoes have been road shoes, and I do most of my running on trails. Most people don't really need trail shoes.

you mad? either one is pretty fast no? sounds like a 5 flat mile pace in one and I guess a mid/high 5-minute mile the other?
I'm just jealous because I have no speed whatsoever. My 400m/440y time is straight embarassing

Also, 800m PR this morning. 2:32. That fucking hurt. Do 10 of those with a 400 break in between and you should be able to run a 2:32 road marathon.
fuck. that. shit.

earlier in the summer I was afraid I was regressing. Now I'm fairly certain I am. friday I sumitted mt. hamilton via bike [a 60 mile long, vertical mile day] took sat off then sun had my former-routine of a long-jog. Did a ~3-4 mile hike with ~500' of vert in the morning on sunday. not sure if mentioning this matters. was super slow in the late afternoon I do a super slow warmup jog [2.5 mile @ 14:00/mi lol] and then do a ~7.6 mile at a reasonable effort [9:10 or so] until around mile 7 I backed off a bit because whiny I'm sitting here at my desk monday morning and my legs are THRASHED lol like it hurts to get off my chair I'm a 2 on this scale http://fellrnr.com/wiki/Delayed_Onset_Muscle_Sorenessso either I'm still fucked from Friday [Saturday I was super fine, no pain whatsoever/soreness], or I've grown another vagina DOMS normally don't start for me until at least 24 hours, peak at 48, subside around 72. Plus doms doesn't necessarily equate to weakness.
Basically you're being a whiner, but it sound slike you had a solid weekend.

Well, it's what you can maintain for 10x800 with a 400 rest between. They're called Yasso 800's, and the time I used them they were remarkably accurate.

Nice...
Stickaz - I agree; that run probably aggravated your recovery from the hike. Sounds normal to me.
Finished another triathlon Sunday. Met some cool people who all exclaimed, "you actually biked in that thing??" Probably my last road 'race' on a mountain bike. Times haven't been posted, but I think I averaged just over 2 hrs for the 500M swim, 30K bike, and 5K run. Had a blast and will probably do again (with a proper bike lol).

Today I signed up for 2 races. I managed to get into the Angeles Crest 100 next August. One of th most iconic and toughest hundred milers in the country. Then this evening my buddy asked me if I wanted to carpool with him up to Malibu in 3 weeks to run the Bulldog 50k. I figured "why not." It may not be my best race, but it will fall in line nicely with pacing Ampsman at his hundred in September before running my Arizona hundred in October.
Nice, AC! I bet that will be epic. And some tune up races/pacing, that's awesome. You'll be having a good Fall I think. I'll be ding my Javelina training running in circles around my neighborhood, lol. I might actually branch out some, maybe even run on the beach some!
I skipped my run yesterday because of a 14 hour work day. I also didn't have a run on Sunday, having 2 days without a run hasn't happened like in forever so it was weird, lol. Ultimately, just pushing back yesterday's run to today, and then today's to tomorrow to fill in that off day. So 2 days off running followed by 6 days in a row of running, lol. Most are just short ones though, so won't be bad.
Hit 151 miles last month, probably go up from there this month and September and then October drop some again to taper into Javelina.
