It's tough, for sure. I don't really feel like doing it until I actually get out there and start moving, then I'm glad I did.

That's usually the case. I just tend to not let such absurd thoughts enter my head.

I'm at 66 miles for the month, and have to get to 80 to meet my goal. Only a couple runs left before I do it, yes!

it's official that i can't run for shit

i was on the treadmill on Monday for 20 minutes and the next day my shins were destroyed. my shin splints definitely have something to do with running and weak muscle \:\(

Eek, maybe get different shoes? Go to a dedicated running store and they'll fit you with a pair that suits you best.

This.

Also, I had HORRIBLE shin splints for the first 20-30 miles I ran. It will get better, just stick with it.

So i signed up for a 10km run on may 9th
couple months to train.
I started running last week after not running for a while
my 1 mile time strate dout at 11:30 lol
but this week i am back down to 9m40s the good thing is my heart rate was only around 131 to 139, and i was not gasping for breath.
hope to be at 9minutes tonight.
Next week we are getting soem warm weather so i can run outside.

I am thinking i should start running slow. Maybe 5min run, 1 min walk, repeat 4-5 times?
Do that 3 times a week then keep increasing the run time.
Plus my regular gym stuff 2 times a week.

Good plan or should is there a better way?
Also should i do a 10k run before the actuall run or not?

Set a personal best on Saturday running 10.10 miles at 7'50" pace. Great thing about it was that I wasn't even out of breath, the only reason I stopped was my feet and legs were fucking killing me, lol. Progress...making progress!

Well, I'm not sure the best way to train, but here's what I've been doing:

Started out Jan 1 with a goal of running 80 miles for the month. I was only running 2-3 miles the first 2 weeks or so because I hadn't run in such a long time. I would run at about an 8'30" pace for a couple minutes, then sprint for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then slow back down to an 8'30" pace again. I'd repeat that a couple times. Every few runs of 3 or so miles, I'd set out to run with a goal in mind of 4 miles or more just so I didn't get stuck in a rut and get used to only running 3 miles and nothing more. By the end of January, I was running a minimum of 4.5 miles each run with longer runs of 6 and 7 miles sprinkled in, again so as not to get used to only running 4.5 miles and nothing more. I would use the same philosophy, run for a couple minutes at a decent pace, then sprint for 30 to 1 minute, then slow back down to my normal pace.

Doing it this way while running 4-5 times a week helped me get to 90 miles in January, and this past Saturday, I set a pb by running 10.10 miles. Previously my pb was a bit over 7 miles...

I'm slowly losing motivation too, ugh. I was 'spoiled' by temps in the upper 30's, so all of my running was done outside. Now it's back to being shitty outside, and the treadmill is extremely fucking boring. I need the 'nice' weather to come back so I can actually get some 4-5 mile runs in.

Yeah, when it warms up to upper 30's and into the 40's, people start driving around with sunroofs open and shit, I'm not kidding. I do. I'll wear shorts and a hoody if I'm going out to the store or something... lol, but it's back in the teens again.

When I lived in Philadelphia and bought a Miata in January (great time to get one cheap; it was about 20 degrees outside), I couldn't wait until it hit 45 degrees so I could put the top down per the manufacturer's recommendation. Now I wear long sleeves if it's below 65. Florida does weird things to a person.

Did about 4.4 miles this morning, on the way to my 13.1 in June with Team in Training.

If you guys are like me and need motivation to keep you going you might want to consider looking into TNT - there are chapters EVERYWHERE.

I signed up to do a half marathon, but they do fulls, tris, bike events, etc. etc. and if you're in the right shape for it they'll train you for an ironman and get you into the event.

Also, the added bonus of the seemingly 4:1 ratio of females to males isn't anything to shake a stick at either.

Hot damn! 1.6 miles today in 13:45. First run in entirely too long, and I missed it. I think the time off did me some good, I hope. Im wheezing like it's my job, but hey, I got out there and ran. \:\)

Thanks man, it feels good. I lost a lot in my 4 weeks without running (checked the calendar and its been longer than I thought), so I need to take some time to get back to where I was once at.

I have been on the slow and steady climb - losing weight/building muscle/endurance, etc....but, it's been frustrating because the weight had been just kind of settling at one number (inches always seem to go down though..).

So, at the beginning of last week, I started to head in a little bit of a new direction. I shortened my cardio times, and turned them into shorter HIIT sessions AND started spin classes. Since I injured my toe at kickboxing last week, I have been supplementing my kickboxing and running with sessions on the Jacob's Ladder.

SOOOoooooo! I ended up losing 3 pounds! Woot!

I guess I will just keep on keeping on! \:D

Just wanted to share my little excited dance with everyone!

havent been checking in here lately, but im tearing shit up. 10 miles in 74 minutes the other day. its almost effortless while im running, but I definitely feel sore after. im down to 165lbs and i feel won-der-ful.

as soon as im ID comes in the mail I'll be lifting with dirtydante, taking my weights game to the next level.

Did 30 minutes on the bike this afternoon... i've mainly been doing hill climbs on the treadmill...

the bike kicked my ass, cause i'm not used to it... i got 10 miles in 30 minutes, and burned about 325 calories...

i'll start adding this into my routine more, cause i got a pretty nasty burn in my qauds when i was hitting those hills... should help my running as well when the time comes...
