...the texas mile. Amazing that it beat out the vipers. Eddie Bello had a 911 there, ran 210+, forget the exact number.

That is absolutely mindblowing. The supra went 228, I cant even imagine what that kind of power feels like. It must pull in fifth like mine does in second. Full interior, and apparently 200rwhp left on the table too! (hehe, in the ricer world, even when you run 228mph in the mile theres an excuse or two).

I LOVE the full interior...

I'm nowhere NEAR that league, but I'm doing EVERYTHING to keep the interior of the eclipse 100% stock.

no gauges of any sort.

228 is CRAZY..that's a standing mile, right? imagine a good 3-mile strip...

Damn, that turbo could eat babies. I bet the C.o.d. helps it against the vipers. No roll cage in it? Scary.

Didn't bello's car used to run 9's (1/4mi) years and years ago?

The COD of a fixed roof Viper isn't too bad IIRC. I have a MT with the standing mile test and it took a 1000WH Viper to run 217 mph, so 228 is WOW.

I found out that there is a similar event run at an old air base in Maxton, NC. They have 5-6 events a year and its less than a day's drive away so I'm thinking about checking it out next spring.

I wonder what a supercar with real aero would do, like one of those crazy turbo S7s or something.

IIRC, R&T had a 750 hp Saleen S7 and it ran about 207 in the standing mile on it's "street" tires. Not sure what the Veyron does.

Well to put it into perspective, the Shelby SSC, which is the current fastest production car with a top speed of 256mph did that speed over 12 miles. It pushes 1183hp and 1094 ft. lbs. of torque. So for a full interior Supra to do 228 in a mile is amazing in my opinion.

Oh and the start of Tommy Bahns run, sounds kinda mean no?

Tommys Setup for this year off of Supraforums.com

I just finished putting on the big brake kit, road race suspension and 19" Fikse (i had the drag setup on the car since its up running 2 weeks ago). We are planning to be at Texasmile this saturday to break some new record...220+mph. The setup of the car as of now is 3.4L stroker and a Garrett GT4718R, 19" fikse with 305-30-19 Yokohama Advan Sport. I also have the Paisley CF lip and the RMM wing. I will have the same camera setup on the car, one on the windshield and one on the cage right between the seats. There will be 2-3 more cameras from the outside.

According to Garrett that turbo is rated at approx. 1400 hp

That is what it's like driving a 400hp civic. First... err second.. err. third... errr.. ahhh fourth... err... ahhh fifth... yeah.. fifth!

The other kind of strugglez (the supra, the civic is the regular strugglez).

Probably took him half a mile just to spool that turbo. He could have gone a little faster if he had smaller, lighter wheels. I don't know if it's just me, but I think I would have tried to find a bigger wing and add some front canard's to keep it on the ground.

Did you watch the video? He had the turbo spooled off the line, granted it may not have been at full boost, but it was spooling as he left.
Fikse wheels have a good reputation for building a quality wheel. He may have went up in size for a gearing reason. All I could find was what I posted above.

The Veyron does 204 in the standing mile
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/3e772fbf-2edd-4d06-b913-998b01873e7d.htm

For those that don't frequent supraforums, these are two posts from that forum.

Great post Ken! A few poihttp://forums.clubsi.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/1927680
So a supra just dominated... - ClubSints to consider...

1. I saw Tommy's AEM log, he hit a PEAK of 32 psi in 5th gear, not 36 psi as you stated above.

2. Tommy revved it to 9320 rpm in 5th gear (again, I saw the log). When you are moving at 220+ mph, by the time you push the clutch in, shift from 5th to 6th, and get back on the gas, you've covered a 1/4 mile. No point in shifting to 6th at the mile.

Peter

Hi guys,
Just got in after a long hot day. I made a total of 4 passes, test pass.....165, shake down low boost 202 and then more boost 212....222 on the last pass spinning on 4th up to 170 mph on 19" street tires Yokohama Advan Sport.....

Iam going back tomorrow with Peter, Duy and some local friends and look for a 230
Iwill get you guys more info and pictures of the car soon

The VSV Viper is not in my class, it is in Unlimited Race class not unlimited street clas that im in.

As of right now im just set the NEW record for the street class unless someone goes faster then 222.34 mph tomorrow.

The setup is ABM 3.4L stroker built with Titan kit, ABM head, Garrett GT4718R on Full Race manifold and 5" DP/MP/Exhaust and a Tilton Quad

As for exterior stock body except for the RMM wing and Paisley front lip.

A buddies 840rwhp supercharged Z06 ran 189mph at the shootout. Gives you some idea of how that damn supra must be moving.

I talked to my buddy who went with the vette. His 1100hp 911 turbo had tranny issues so it didnt make it there, and the vette kept nosing over in sixth, I was incorrect, he ran a best of 177mph with the car not running 100%.

Apparently Tommy (owner of the supra) ran the 228mph on the second day after switching to 18 inch wheels, which allowed him to hook in third. Eddie Bellos car was a riot.....it practically lifted the tires in the first couple of gears and then parts literally started flying off it.....including the sunroof.

They need to do something like this in CA. I'd be all over it. Running flat out to very high speed is a rush and a half, much, much more exciting than the 1320.

Actually it isn't the same car. The car from last year was an anthracite 95 supra. This year he bought an 11k mile Quicksilver hardtop 98 (the rarest supra model available in the US). Last year he was running a built 3 liter with a smaller turbo. He actually bought the car from Peter Blach (organizer of the TX2K meets).
I know its spliting hairs, but I have been following Tommy, Peter and SW's various cars ever since I had my Supra way back when.

The spinning actually helps I think to a certian extent.
I know it does at the dragstrip vs hooking and bogging, or just feeding in
enough throttle to not spin.
By spinning and still accelerating at a decent rate, read moderate slippage,
your putting down more hp. That way your not bogging the engine, and will
achieve a faster speed, but not a faster time to cover the same distance.
