The now famous vacuum guy from the reddit AMA said that dyson was garbage. There were a couple much better options.

The Shark Navigator is actually a kick ass vacuum as well and gets great reviews on amazon. I got mine for $150 on sale

For cottage. There is actually a central vac there, but the suction is weak. I think there is a blockage in one of the pipes. The majority of the floor is hardwood, so I'm just going to get an upright or canister

Start with the easy steps first and verify if the blockage is in the vacuum itself or the pipe. If it's in the pipe you may be able to tuna fish down the pipe and break it loose
