Sometimes a bitch to plan out ordering from Germany, timing customs, and buying the right stage.

Stick to whatever your using. If you want to switch brands, you should mix it (e.g. 50% Brand A, 50% Brand B and slowly transition).

This one is also well rated. Both have pros & cons, but these 2 brands suggested have more pros than cons compared to the domestic "crap".

I think you mentioned you eat organic when possible? So why not your baby?

Happy Wednesday peeps!

Your story reminds me of our first kid - she was 1-2 months old and that was by far the worst diaper change gone wrong (even comparing w/ the second kid).

We were in a condo so the kid's room is pretty small - the change table was immediately next to the bed on one side of the room.

I still remember the Wife telling me what happened (I was just getting home from work when I walked into the epic mess): she had just given the kid a bath, took her back to the change table, toweled her off and was just reaching for a diaper and liquified poo shot out of my kid's ass in true projectile fashion.

The result:
- liquified poo sprayed on the towel (luckily, it was covering the bed, so surprisingly no poo drips made it on the sheets)
- the side of the change table (because when fluids shot out in a projectile motion, once it looses force (pressure), it will dribble)
- and any remnants on the change table, change pad
- random specks of poo on the wall

From that day on, I learned as a parent on how to pre-treat messes like this on clothes / linen and not leave any permanent stains: cold water, detergent (i used hand soap) and a whole lot of frickin' scrubbing. It's worked for blood, puke and of course poo. Too bad the poo never came off the drywall. \:D

Oh and we moved not too long after that. \:D I hope the new owners repainted when he moved in. LOL

If you guys have central vac, the best nasal aspirator is the one that connects to your central vac. Unfortunately we no longer have central vac and the adapter doesn't work with the Dyson so need to suck it out with my mouth and hope the paper filter does its job.

I was going to use my shop vac once, but it was too loud for her so she got scared (that's when I couldn't find the nasal aspirator and when I sucked it out with my mouth).

We all eat our own boogers as a byproduct of being sick, pretty sure baby boogers can't be that bad ;\)

My kid used to get pretty bunged up. It even hurt him to poo. We pegged him. PEG. Polyethylene glycol... commercially sold as restoralax. It draws water from the body to soften the stool.
Note though, too much and it's hell for like an entire day

This is what I use for all my kids to suck our their boogers. Works great! If you're not a wuss and can really suck (nohomo) you can clear them up nicely. Yes they hate it, yes its a little torturous, but it works and they can breathe and sleep better.

Actually I didn't even use the saline solution. Just used the sucker. In fact when the filters were used up, i said fuck it and didn't bother getting replacements. No saline, no filter.

I know the whole experience is so vivid in your mind, but trust me you will forget all about these days. It gets SO much better that you and your wife will look back at these times and laugh. No one said it was easy. Hang in there and make sure you two are supporting one another. You'll get through it.

yeah our guy is almost 4 months and lately he's been waking every 2hrs...so she been at it \:\( - i help say 5am if need be then knock out to 645am having to get the older one up/eating/ready/etc.

it comes in waves like i told you man...you'll get 3wks of "hey not so bad"...then 3wks of "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" and back to being decent again. babies developing like crazy. wait until they hit growth spurts (body and brain), they learn so much and it's even too much for them at night sometimes.

Thanks, nice to hear.

I am debating of extending her mat leave if possible because if this continues on past 12 months it won't be sustainable.

While not impossible, its not the norm for it to continue to 12 months.

Either way, if her company allows it (YRDSB?) and you can support her financially (duh, stupid question) I say do it. We had extended each of my wife's mat leaves for another 6 months and she loved it. She just wasn't "ready" to leave her new born and go back to work. She really enjoyed the time she spent with the baby once it surpassed 12 months. I also liked having a stay-at-home wife \:\)

Things get better at around month 9. Babies get way more fun at that time cause they should sleeping better and they're more interactive. Extend that mat leave cause it's time that you'll never get back.

my wife had such a hard time when she went back the first time. Was a really good opportunity as well, but she was just so damn tired. I felt so bad because baby only wanted mom in the middle of the night.

My wife is at home now, and I don't even care about the lost income. Things are just so much easier and way way less stressful.
Plus it's great that mom is at home with the kids, that's what they want and need.

So quick update on the formula side of things... Osama Bin Quinton's on the concentrated stuff from Nestle's Good Start. Having taken notes from previous pages regarding keeping almost hot water in a thermos, prepping the formula at night takes about 30 seconds, so thank you all for that. I don't think I'll ever go back to using the bottle warmer at night.

But anyway, for your benefit Risky, the constipation is gone and the kid seems to... well, he doesn't dislike it. So yeah, good results after 2 weeks. If you're using it already, Real Canadian Superstore has it on sale right now for $41.xx.

That is all. Happy Monday!

Thanks for the reminder, still on the premade Enfamil stuff right now, but my wife's supply increased nicely so we haven't been buying as much.

Not sure if I want to rock the boat with switching formulas again.

Switched to a PC brand organic formula that my wife researched, no corn syrup as sweetener. Seems to be working pretty well.

It will be nice to spend a fraction of what we spent on formula going forward.
