So I'm struggling a bit here making some choice. I'm looking for a Matte Black/Gunmetel wheel to contrast with my red car. I do not want anything with chrome lips, stripes, non symetrical spokes etc. I'm not going for a baller, extreme or even a fancy look. Simple, but just not stock. Something with a more aggressive offset and potentially shedding a few pounds.

Most people say to go with 19's as they tend to look better, but dropping an extra $1200 (shipping, TPMS, tires) for 1" seems a bit much, specially when you are likely adding weight over stock.

I'm also having bad luck with buying some used G35 Coupe 19" Rays. 370Z rims are going for a bit much. Most people selling are offering tires too, but since I'm AWD, I can't use their staggered setups for tires or they don't come with TPMS. No one wants to ship, especially to Canada.

Anyways, being that I already have 18's and TPMS, I was thinking of a few 18's. Only the Konig's and OZ wheels are lighter than stock IIRC. TSW's and Motegi's are about he same weight (estimating since they are not published).

I've also thought about powdercoating the 35th anniversary 350Z wheels - but I don't know if black 5 spokes would look that good.

TSW Donningtons:

TSW Willow Bronze

Motegi MR118

OZ Ultraleggera (a good bit more expensive, but only 18 pounds)

Konig Lace might be the exception on having two-tone (20 lbs)

I love the style of the first wheel but the black SUCKS and looks cheap as fuck. IMO get something bronze.

If you can get the first wheels in bronze do that...

If not... get the TSW willow IMO. Not as good looking as the first wheel but the color looks great and I enjoy the lip

I'd love BBS LM's, but at 1k/each or so, they are not cheap.

I love the color of the Willows, the style is a bit meh. The TSW's blacks look good in pics IMO.

Yeah in pics not on cars. On the cars they are too black, and look cheap as fuck. Its like the homo that spray bombs his stock wheels or some shit and the wheels end up looking like hubcaps fucked a decent looking wheel and produced the matte black, cheap looking offspring.

All IMO of course.

Yeah, black wheel can have that effect, but I'm just digging black lately. That white G coupe looks hot IMO. On a red car, with the odd chrome piece, tint and a midnight grill, black seems well suited instead of introducing yet another color to the mix.

I'm not going for the oversized wheel, dropped look, but I like the contrast.

What you're missing here though is Gloss vs Matte.

Gloss looks great, matte does NOT.

Do the wheels have to be black? I say tsw or motegi in silver. Black rims on quasi-luxo cars *SCREAM* "I was riced-the-fuck-out 10 years ago, and now I have a real job so I can afford rims that look like the steelies I used to tuck under my body kit!"

Your mileage may vary, but that's my experience/impression. I know some cool people rock black rims, but in my experience they're outnumbered by the idiots/ricers.

I think black rims are meant to and do look good on some tuner cars, aka wrx, evo, etc...but on a luxobarge like the G35 they just won't look right.

Oh and powdercoating the 350z's wheels black would be the riciest idea ever. Sorry but I am really anal about OEM wheels being used on other cars. Painting them does not make it better.

I knew black would be polarizing, but I like it. I don't see how it's ricey to have a wheel that isn't the same bland silver as 99% of cars out there. The people here who have black rims have gaudy Zinik shit loaded with shiney fake rivets and shiney accents and they are too busy.

I like this:

I'm really diggin Audi RS4 wheels on sedans. And there's some decent replicas out there...

http://www.amazon.com/AUDI-GUNMETAL-RS4-WHEELS-RIMS/dp/B0033Z9NL6

There's a factory gunmetal as well. My neighbor has them on his red RS4. It's pretty hot.

Holy fuck yes. There's an a3 that goes to my gym that has those, and as much as I hate giant wheels on base-model-ish cars, I want to love that vehicle with every part of my body.

Enkei RPF1's look like cheap tuner wheels to me. Plus, the thick lip and short spokes make wheels look smaller than they are. If i go the 18" route with Enkei's, I'd likely go with:

I like the RS-4 style wheels and they look great on a G, but the only ones i can find are Enkei's as well:

No one like the Konig Lace?

Axis makes an awesome rim (Angle), but it's only in a 20" size.

Powdercoated IIRC.

I won't go time attack style. I think you need to be lowered more than I'm willing to go for that to even work.

These aren't too bad. Definately look alot better in person and with a 30 offset they start to concave a little. $175 apiece for 18x8

They look like ass in that pic, but you are right, nice and concave with a 30 offset - kinda mean. I'd like them in gunmetal over bronze, but they only come in 43 offset in GM.

Does red/bronze really go over well?

Granted, this is a 15 offset on a 9.5 wide.

GTR wheels actually look ok on it, but I still would not do that. Like I said, I'm just abnormally anal about things like that.

I don't think thats an issue on the sedans (hope). The stockers have less offset (45mm IIRC) and width (7.5") and they aren't too tucked.

IIRC, the Rays are 33 offset and 8.5 wide. The guys calls them black chrome - but they look GM to me.

Go with 19's in a simple straight spoke design. Im not that big a fan of dark wheels but if you do get them try not to get black wheels

My only gripe w/ that setup is that you're putting a prior generation's wheels on a current generation car. People always do that on Mustangs w/ Cobra wheels, really irks me.

If I had your car, i'd find a set of rear 18"s to mount up front and give it a slight drop. That way you get rid of that stupid looking factory stagger where the rear tires have a nice round profile but the front look square as hell. That bothers me every time I see those cars.

Not following you on the front square thing. being AWD, I have to make sure my tires are all the same - though I can still have slightly different wheel widths.

It's hard to see in pictures. You can kinda see it in these.

I think the front wheels are 7.5" w/ 225/50s and the rear are 8.5" 245/45s

Right, though on AWD models, they are all 7.5" and 225's. But what do you mean by square?

Any wheels I'm looking at will have a pretty aggressive offset compared to stock.
