Island Foods at King and Dufferin is having its last day on Saturday, June 29. The closure has been a long time-coming for the fiercely loved Caribbean restaurant, with the XO Condos replacing it initially proposed around 2015 (now one of the most hated developments in Toronto).
My first Toronto apartment was right around the corner from this location. Many rotis,good times and a few hook ups. Nothing better happen to the Don Mills location.
I remember it used to be in the food court in the building next to the police station on dundas and university. I love their curry goat roti; decently close (walking distance) from work.
It was such a drag to car pool out to king and dufferin when they moved.
Is the Don Mills location just as good as the King and Dufferin one? Should make it a point to go buy lunch some time...
