Just moved to Red Deer a little while back, and I'm wondering how bad the Alberta Out of Province safety really is, the guys at work were saying its pretty tough. I drive a '91 Chevy Halfton. Anyone know where a good place to get it safetied in the area would be? And also a good place to insure it? The truck just passed a Manitoba safety about 3 months ago.

Ya working/apprenticing as a welder out in Red Deer now. School didn't work out for me, definetly wasn't my thing. Sold the black Volvo now too, got a '91 HD Half and just picked up an '87 Vette. Is that yours in your picture? How do you like it?

No I haven't tried yet. I think I'll keep my Manitoba plates on as long as I can for now. At least until I get my vette on the road and need to insure it, or maybe I'll put it in the ol' ladys name, still not too sure yet. I've seen that JDM Z driving around, thats the RHD one right?

lol there are about 8 rhd Z's in red deer, 5 or so skylines, a sylvia K's and a couple other misc jdm cars.
this one is dark blue/black with no plate just an in-transit sticker on the back. i don't think he drives it around much, if at all, yet.

Sleepers eh.. I love sleepers, always have. What are some of the ones that are around here? And some cars to watch out for? Also are there ever little meets in the summertime, somewhere to get to know some other car guys?

they've been dying off, some guys meet up at canadian tire north, some guys meet up at macs north, some guys meet up down at the parking lot across from kfc downtown.. used to be everyone met up at teh same place and it was big and awesome. its hard to predict what will happen this summer, it might die off completely or get a big growth spurt. *shrug*

i can't really say offhand which cars to watch out for, i'm kind of out of touch heh

I moved to Edmonton from Toronto in March and I brought my car over. They are strict here. I talked to the mechanic and he said basically your car has to be as good as a new one.

lol

out of province inspections are bullshit, its basically up to the shop/mechanic's disgression wether or not he wants to rape you.

places like canadian tire rape you hard and fast. some of the smaller shops that are able to do it can sometimes be coaxed in to passing your shit sight unseen even.
i'm not going to recommend either. but so you know, they do it as a cash grab.
