It's about time for a replacement for our 15 y.o tanked system. Just wanted to know what everyone's opinion was, especially those that may have switched to tankless. I have an electrical water tank as there is no gas line near the tank. Thinking electrical tankless would save me on electrical bill but don't know energy uses to verify.

I don't think anyone here is dying for the 4 square feet of space.

The element in the basic tank can be smaller because it takes awhile to heat up. I think most electric tankless need 120 on average for a decent unit. Most Households have 100 amp or 200 amp service.

But I guess in practice the differences/efficiencies aren't so much. The numbers they toss around are ~60% for tank vs up to 96% for tankless in terms of efficiency, which is considerable, but I'm certain those numbers are on the extremes ends of the spectrum. Where I'll probably end up saving is going from renting to owning the tank. _________________________ Fake right, cross-over, shoot lefty

I used the term "scammed" due to the less-than-clear payment plan he was put on which ended up costing my dad more than they had originally implied. The wait for hot water definitely takes getting used to.
