No updates as of yet, I was strongly considering a 4runner that had a fair amount of goodies on it (supposedly the owner spent 5k on it in the last 12 months). I spent over two weeks trying to set up an appointment (the guy was always unavailable) and he left me hanging so I said F it and decided to keep my car for now - shopping for a car can be a real pain in the ass.
The 540 will be getting some new brakes soon and I may put in some stainless lines while I'm in there.
I was forced to make a decision because the inevitable happened. The timing guides went on my 540 with 184KM. I would have held onto the car and pretended like I knew what the hell I was doing while I fucked it up more I'm sure lol but I already have an older square body truck.
So being that I am newly self employed I settled on a 2011 Nissan Maxima. I tested it back to back against the G37 sedan (manual) and the G just felt cheap to me where the Maxima had most of the features my old car had plus it felt more luxury.
It is the premium so it has the paddles, cooled driver seat, heated wheel, pano roof, heated wheel, rear shade and bose stereo. I really wanted to like the G because it's a better platform and manual but it felt so bare bones inside.
So yeah flame me - I have a CVT car, never thought I would but overall the car was better than I expected which is rare (in my price range anyways).
However I do miss the 6 speed and V8 grunt and I'm on the fence about long term commitment as it feels like it lacks soul - maybe some mods will change that?
we dont hate. we congratulate. if it suits your needs and in budget then its a win. congrats! get a car thats more fun later.

Yeah I hope to get a few years out of it, it's got 140 on the clock. The first thing I did to it was drain and refill the tranny fluid and I'll be doing it again soon.
I asked the mechanic at Nissan if they've had issues with the CVT on the maxima and he said it's really rare with the Maxima, he said the Murano is bad...probably all the lead foot soccer moms.
Does anyone know if the infinity uses the same CVT?
