one of my co workers' son in law knows the deceased (best man at his wedding). He was the passenger that was ejected.
from what I've been told, driver had a medical incident and lost control.
Deceased just had a 4th kid too.. 140kmh in a 50 zone is not a medical incident sorry...... (though yeah it'd suck if he had it like while going that fast...that is just some shitty lucky - still had he been driving normally then he wouldn't have crashed as badly). it sucks they and now loved ones have to suffer over just 1 'fun' car drive at a bad time.
because you were there 
news said driver was 70 year old; doesn't really fit the demographic of a street racer (like those 2 idiots in lambos on aurora rd. a few weeks back)
could've had a heart attack / stroke -- something like that causes your body to tense up - leg extend over the throttle = full acceleration.
i think something similar happened at the track a few years ago (by word of mouth) - old guy in his miata never stopped at one of the higher speed turns and crashed; impact wasn't hard but he died behind the wheel due to heart attack.
now the question is for the passenger -- ejected? so was he wearing a seatbelt? (given the rate of speed and what's around that intersection, probably wouldn't have survived anyways)
sad regardless - won't ever find out the whole truth, too many unknowns.

not posting this for internet points but it's relevant.
last week, during my break at 7pm, i was heading over to the gf's moms house because the gf was there and not feeling well. turned onto 401 east @ leslie and i see this mazda in the guard rail, front wheels still going doing a burnout. i see inside there's a old white guy slumped over. people were slowing down to look but atleast 7-8 cars kept going, so i pull over. i run over, guy is un-responsive.
i reach in, turn the car off, then i yank him out of the car and start CPR. another dude saw this and stopped so i yelled at him to call 911. as i'm doing CPR on the driver, he comes too. i help him up, put him to sit in the seat. i wait there talking to the guy, trying to get a medical history on him, fire dept show up, i brief them and then gtfo so they can do their thing.
point of the story, is that sometimes someone can pass out at the wheel and their leg can pin the gas. scary to think but it's a very possible thing.

i think that kid in the vid lives near the hospital. i've seen a mclaren that was being driven by this asian girl and her man had a lambo behind her. i was coming out of the shell gas station at burbank/sheppard and she was turning in...well...trying too atleast almost hitting my car in the process.
