Ready to jump ship and sign up with Start. What modem do you guys recommend?

I already have a wireless router which I plan on just hooking up to the modem for the whole house instead of using the wireless feature on the modem.

Both are great!

I had electronic box for the last year and customer service was great when I needed it. Cheaper than start.ca (only a few bucks)

Only reason I switched was the geo location always thought I was in Montreal. Not a deal breaker but after awhile it started to get a bit annoying.

Reviving this thread as we are going to cancel with bell (tv and internet) and going with start.ca and iptv.

For the guys with start, how has the service been and are you satisfied with it?

Is there a recommended modem to use with these guys instead of buying the one off their site?

tia

start was great I always loved their service, even when I wanted to cancel they were super pleasant. I switched back to eBox just because of a deal they had going on.

The modem depends on the speed package you want

I recently switched from start.ca to ebox last fall w/ the promo they were having and even after the promo expires, it's still cheaper and faster than start.ca. Only issue I had was the fact I had to purchase a new modem since it was 9 years old. No big deal.

So far ebox has been reliable and their customer service has been top notch.

Probably going with the 25 VDSL package.

I plan on using my current netgear router for wifi/as an ap and was thinking of getting the smartrg sr505n just as a modem. But read that the 501 would be better/cheaper if I went this route. Any other suggestions?

Would you guys recommend one service over the other or both are good (start/ebox).

Ebox.

Edited - forgot to mention you should go on RFD and get the $2 off per month for as long as you are with ebox.

Can’t comment on the modem options as I have never had Vdsl service. The best thing to do is just read as many reviews and see if anyone is complaining about hardware issues then grab the cheapest.

Both of those resellers are using the same infrastructure so it comes down to support which I find is the same. Both offer fast email and phone support locally (Montreal and London). Like I said for me it came down to price.

$99 tax in with Robbers Retention with Cable and 150u. It was $117.xx and they made a mistake, a hour and a half later, I got to retention so they can fix the bill. At that point, I was ready to cancel for real but they gave me 99 tax in........sold my soul to the devil for another year until I have to call back to renegotiate.

I think once the 12 months is up, I am going to move my internet to Techsavvy....I only have cable for Sports. I know there is streaming for sports via box but I am not tech savvy enough to find good feeds.

i just use robbers and re-call every 2 years for a new diu
100mb/sec speed is good and the price is surprisingly competitive. up time been solid except for a few months ago shit was bad for 2 days during bad storms.

What's the latest hotness in modems. Has the PUMA6 chipset finally been replaced?

Looks like the TP-Link TC7650 is one possible option.
