New milk. Toyota CHR actually
Looks funky as hell. I know it's love it or hate it, but i definitely love it XD Got it below invoice from Woodbine Toyota - no messing around. Texted the sales manager, told him I wanted the car. Give me good diu and I will not waste any time. He delivered. I confirmed pricing at unhanggle.com and got quite a lot below that. I was also at another dealer prior talking price, and this guy beat them as well.
Good on gas (avg 8.4L for the first tank - all city). Fits bike without need to remove any wheels, along with rollers/trainer, gear bag and tons of drinks/food with ease (#1 criteria!).
Driving position is surprisingly good. It feels like a car. Yes, the drivers seat is elevated, but the actual position is like a car. That is, the hip is lower than your knees. You sit *in* the seat rather than on it. Steering wheel is tilt/telescopic and forward visibility is good. Steering is surprisingly quick and brake pedal while longer travel, grabs very progressively.
Handling wise it's no joke. It drives nothing like what it looks like (read: tall CUV). It's entertaining to chuck around, and you can get the back end to step out with ease with some left foot braking. I found though that with VSC off, you can left foot brake for a max of 2 seconds before throttle is cut (boo). But working around that, the car can be manipulated quite well with just the pedals. It'll tuck in the line with throttle lift, and it can kick out the back with left foot braking easily. It's planted and gives a very direct but sprightly feel. Quick to change direction, and can hold a line better than a car this tall has any right to. The weakest link here are the craptacular tires - but that just makes it all the more easy to step out with the left foot.
Interior quality is really damn good for a car this cheap (it's 26k fully loaded). Leather(ette?) wrapped steering wheel, leatherette dash, very well supporting seats with lumbar adjustment and a crap ton of tech I've never had before. It's a really fun city car.
140hp CVT........uhhh. Engine is meatier than you'd expect in the 3k-5kRPM range. It's no rocket (it is slow), but it can get out of it's own way, and the CVT doesn't hamper it. The worst thing about the CVT is that in 1st gear, it slips the trans up to about 3k RPM. After that point, it's direct (like a torque converter locking up) and it'll move. But until it hits 3k, it's slowww. On the highway passing, it works well enough. The trans is eager to push to high RPM's to make things happen.
Cue: Vas laughing at the car

Ahahhahahahahaha so much hate XD
I cross shopped this with Subaru XV Crosstrek and VW Golf Alltrack. The subaru is cool as hell, and comes in manual to boot. Can be had with pano roof. But the AC is noticeably weak (yes, that matters to me!). Also, insurance shockingly high for what it is (nearly on part with Civic).
Golf Alltrack is real nice, and the interior definitely a step above. The huge pano roof, and the wagon body style is great. But two things: Turbo, and DSG. Don't trust either of them for longevity--not that vw has a good track record of it. I read up on E888 gen 3 and people are having problems with rear main seals and oil consumption. Nope.
And honestly, in the end, the chr was more entertaining to throw around--despite it lacking the forward thrust of the golf. Though I must say, that dsg trans is fantastic.
Oh and visibility out the back sucks for parking. But nothing mirrors and reverse cam doesn't fix. Doesn't matter when changing lanes cause i adjust my mirrors to see the blind spot anyway.

I'm probably odd ball but the car looks nice to me lol
Other than the ac in the subaru anything else you didn't like? My buddy who loves subaru was looking at an xv. It looks like a lifted imprezza to me but he seems to like it

Loudsubz--the Subaru was great. Super quick steering. It has the same rack as the brz. It's entertaining to drive but the motor is pretty flat in power delivery. Doesn't really matter where you are in the power band, it doesn't have any meat to it (I know we're talking about low power cars here but even amongst them, this motor is not great). It has a really updated interior compared to last gen, but I'm not a fan of the interior styling. And the exterior looks like a Tonka truck. Cost wise, it's quite a lot more but you get awd, led lights and a moonroof. It's a cool car and would be a tank in the snow--oh and the gas tank is huge - like 70l. Bad on gas in a manual though.
Vas - Cj flys ek sounds super awesome XD Hyper- e91 got dumped. It was a bad situation but at the time, I was dealing with two houses and a Reno. Didn't want to deal with a car that had a failing transmission.

Lol. 3 months off a brand new car. That depreciation yo.
Gotta hear why it's not as good as the initial review.
