4Three 4Three Post Master Sr Registered: 12/21/00 Posts: 5365 Loc: Markham, ON, Canada	This guy just got paid out like 649 from our government. Thoughts? Child soldier? Gitmo? Canadian? Charter rights? I just feel as a country, we all too often get taken advantage of for our values and kindness. While some of the country is patting themselves on their backs for holding true to the values of the charter, others see us as the spineless sucker of the world. _________________________ Fake right, cross-over, shoot lefty

According to one of the articles, the only reason he admitted his war crime is to get out of Guntamabe (spell) If that's true, he went through hell for no reason. phoenixrage phoenixrage Post Master Supreme Registered: 01/15/08 Posts: 50785 Loc: People's Republic of Ontario	yea, at face value its fairly shitty, but iirc, its a huge massive grey area and at the time the Canadian government didn't really push that hard with the US government to get him out to at least get him into a proper trial. at the end of the day though, i think the wife/family of the soldier is sueing him anyways, so hopefully in the end she gets the cash. As much as I personally hate it, and would love to change the rules, but going by what "should" have happened, this is on par. Ya, I get that we should've brought him back asap, but I'm not sure the Americans would've been willing to ship him off without taking a run at him. From the stats I've read, something like 70% of Canadian don't agree with this decision to pay him, so while legally it seems like the right thing to do, it's turning everyone's stomach. _________________________ Fake right, cross-over, shoot lefty
